What would a Dutton Liberal leadership mean for the Liberals and the country?

You should buy a hammer. A few dollars at Bunnings. No point in ruining your phone and TV at the same time. And a hammer will live to tell the tale (and smash another TV).
Watching Sky News hits every rage trigger I have.

I think voters are increasingly seeing that beyond his aggression and carping and negativity Dutton isn’t actually offering anything.

Sorry Peter, we’d love to browse in your shop with its bright neon sign and loud disco music, but look at the shelves mate. The shelves are bare.

terrific piece by barry jones. balanced and acute. ‘thug’ is using the orange “glossolalists” - thanks baz for adding to my vocabulary - playbook. really liked the quote as the header :

To abandon facts is to abandon freedom. If nothing is true, then no one can criticize power, because there is no basis upon which to do so. If nothing is true, then all is spectacle. The biggest wallet pays for the most blinding lights.

– Timothy Snyder, On Tyranny (2017)

I saw Snyder interviewed on one of the MSBNC shows this week. He was very impressive. I’ve added a couple of his books to my wishlist (already far too long). But I think I might buy that one pretty soon (On Tyranny).

he has an acute mind, an acute sense of what is right and what is wrong, and writes and speaks so well. the strategy trump is employing is, to a larger or lesser extent, being employed by rightist governments around the globe.

The language that is being used has a specific resonance, which, historically, has been used to change regime type. It is important that the rights of human beings were violated. It is important that the rule of law was ignored. It is important that the executive is trying to define reality.”

I think it's time to Dutton to rethink his nuclear policy. Not even remotely safe to operate these plants.

"Proposed nuclear power plants in Queensland would not have access to enough water to stop a nuclear meltdown and could strain capacity on drinking water and irrigation supplies even under normal operations, research has found."

I think that all of these flaws that are happening to pop-up with this plan are intentional so that they can keep saying that they are trying to fix them while coal fired station continue for as long as possible.

Certainly. Actual debate is superfluous really. Most coalition voters won’t believe it will happen either
