...Looks at Dutton press release.

'That's why we will create a Portfolio of Government Efficiency to look into where government spending is being wasted with a focus on a more efficient use of taxpayers’ money”.

He described the Labor Government’s spending as “wasteful” and “out of control”.

Which is why he has appointed Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price as Shadow Minister for ‘Government Efficiency’ and why he has targeted Aboriginal Affairs spending - one of the smallest expenditure areas of the Federal Budget - as the priority area for government expenditure cuts should he win office at the next election.

Get it now?

A serious mis step. She looks vengeful and not having the ability to do tbis costcontrol function across govt generally.

Of course she can just let an army of pwc suits do that and she just becomes the head kicker in the indigenous space, something she has shown a real aptitude for obviously. Payback.

Dutton would bill more for expenses in 6 months than the entire dept spends on WTC for a year yet somehow removing WTC ceremonies is going to save the budget? Talk about performative punching down.

Apparently JNP is going to model herself on Margaret Thatcher? Seriously?
These people are insane.

Closer to 3 months

Dutton spent $370k on travel in 3 months, not counting his private jet trips via gina

WTC has cost $450k over 2 years

The pejorative terms 'public servants' and 'bureaucrats' have always been part of the political arsenal of conservative and right leaning politicians generally.

And that's because it strikes a chord with a large chunk of the voting public - the idea that their taxes are being spent to shore up hundreds of thousands of overpaid public officials doing next to f-all in cushy jobs that quash the life out of the true working man and woman and those running small businesses just trying to make their way in the world.

So yes, it resonates, especially in working class electorates which are now critical to the change of governments in Australia.

The trick for conservative pollies of course is to not be too specific about which 'public servants' you're talking about when taking aim at cutting them back - or at the very least least make it clear that you aren't including 'front line' public servants like nurses, police officers, soldiers etc. in your efficiency targets. Because these people are not public servants at all but national heroes - there should be more of them and more of their time spent on the job helping and protecting 'decent Australians' and 'the Australian way of life'.

The fact it takes all the other public servants working behind the scenes to provide the intelligence, community support, research and follow up to those other public servants who are deemed worthy of conservative support or to divert the crime and hospital stays that sees an ever increasing number of police and nurses needed is never mentioned of course. Because that would destroy the inherent simplicity and resonance of the fairy tale story with target voters.

It is also cover for the actual reality of the true Liberal agenda;

1/ ensuring the working and middle classes PAYE tax payers carry the tax burden while the capital owners pay little to no tax.

2/ the tax that is paid by the working and middle class is to be diverted to the capital class at every opportunity to pretty much no benefit of the working class unless you believe the trickle down myth.

3/ the Liberals sell the whole thing by blaming others, the bureaucracy, anyone dependent on social services, etc

With the frequency of anti-semitic attacks in this country, now targeting children, Dutton is actually is being vindicated for his concerns about it.
Vindicated from what? From fuelling all sorts of hate against other ethnic minorities? From taunting First Nations people regarding January 26?

Antisemitism isn't the only important hate to combat. Overall, Peter Dutton is one to incite and fuel hate, not combat hate.

The difference between him and Trump is that Trump has charisma. The only way Dutton wins is if Australians want the country to follow the US and Europe in shifting towards conservatism. Meaning, he'd only win by being in the right place and at the right time. On his own merits though, he has no appeal. Couldn't imagine that this country is full of legitimate Dutton supporters in the same way as Trump having loyal supporters.

Is anyone in the media hounding Dutton for the exquisite irony of accidentally appointing two shadow ministers to cut down “government waste”?
I tried to look up how much it costs to run a government department the other day - didn’t have much luck.

Dutton will probably just privatise the whole department - maybe this is Luke Sayers next gig - gotta look after the sex pests

If trickle down existed on the Reagan era, in comparison now it’s fine mist.
The top capital owners now spending most of their disposable 😵‍💫 dollars at vendors owned by other top capitalists

So much for cutting government “waste”.
They’ll just use the combined nuclear expertise of PwC, EY, Deloitte and KPMG to design, implement and manage the industry.
