Agree, was dreading the runtime but it flew by. Honestly one of my favourite movies from the past few years.

MI2 and MI3 are somewhat average, but the non-numbered ones (Ghost Protocol, Rogue Nation, Fallout and Dead Reckoning) are fine action movies and you don't need to have had intimate knowledge of previous movies to enjoy them fully.
Note that MI1 has little action and is more of a spy thriller but the later ones become full blown, very good to outstanding action movies featuring Tom Cruise doing outrageous stunts.

I remember Amour came out in early February 2013 here, and so it became many an unwitting couple's Valentine's Day pick, thinking they were going to see some regular romance film and instead getting one of the most harrowing films of the decade.

Didn't get around to this in the cinema, so decided to take a look on Apple TV+. Went for the director's cut (just under 3.5 hour running time). Split it over a few nights.
It was... OK. Not badly made, good performances all round I thought. But it just felt unfocused, it seemed too interested in his relationship with Josephine and not enough on his achievements as a military / political leader. The blurb on Apple TV+ describes it as being about his origins and rise to power "viewed through the prism of Napoleon's volatile relationship with his wife, Josephine". But to me it felt like it was actually the other way around, it was more like the story of a horny Frenchman who occasionally had to stop boning Josephine to go on some inconvenient military expedition which (with a slight exception for his invasion of Russia) was just kind of rushed through so he could get back home to play hide the salami again.

happy for you, but I found it a cry for conservatorship, I hope he wasn’t too far into Chapter 3 before reality set in, not only for him but because it poses real harm to the future prospects of the (endangered) theatrical western.

Unlike some biopics they don't try to chew off too much, they just cover Bob Dylan's early musical career and relationships.
I wasn't convinced by Chalamet at first but after a while I forgot I was watching an actor play Dylan. Ed Norton as Pete Seeger was brilliant. Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez was also very good. Apparently they all did their own vocals and played their own instruments.
I wouldn't call myself a massive Dylan fan but when you put his best songs together it reminds you what a genius he was. Some of the performances in this movie make your hair stand on end, almost like you are hearing these great songs for the first time again.
The writers do good job in depicting Dylan's complex character, including that he could be an arseh*le at times. The set design and cinematography immerses you into the 1960s.
I found it very watchable and I reckon it would be rewatchable.

For a long movie, it doesn't feel it. I love how sinister the music is, how disorienting some of the visuals and timelines are, and just the whole shebang really.

Great movie, an all time fav of mine. Four Aussie actors I count in it as well.
You are right about it being disorienting - and there are so many creepy scenes in it. The bum. The cowboy. The audition where everyone is all too friendly/impressed. Club silencio. The way the cops talk at the car accident scene near the start.
The man was an artist.

I watched Mulholland Drive many, many years ago. Thought it was a load of garbage at the time and my only enduring memory of it now is watching Naomi Watts furiously going at it solo on a couch.
