If anyone knows Courtney Barnett you probably recognise my username. My favourite album is "Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit". Think it got like 4 songs in the JJJ hottest 100. I still remember sitting at home watching MTV and Depreston came on. It literally changed my life that day putting on MTV and discovering Courtney Barnett. Its really odd because I am very not her target audience and would like a fish out of water if I ever went and seen her live. I think she is very clever lyrically and her sound is very unique. Like a female Paul Kelly.

Also really like Catfish and the Bottlemen 'The Ride'. Some of the themes really resonated with my life at the time. I think its the only CD I have left in my house, and its never been opened.

Anything from Miles Davis from about 1968-1975 puts most other so-called musicians to shame.
Why shame? Music isn't a competition, it's art. Some of the most beautiful music to my pointy ears is very simple, and some of the most complex music can sound awful.

Do you have to be as good as Miles Davis to express yourself through music?

‘Shame’ because real music is a message to the future and, unfortunately, most musicians’ message is, “We’re shite who endlessly repeat ourselves.” Next you’ll be telling me that Celine Dion is praiseworthy. 99.9% of contemporary music is not art. Fart would be a better description.

Miles Davis is not great because of his technique but because his music was superb. I love The Sex Pistols, for example, who were not very good on their instruments but had a ton of soul. Anyone can produce good music but most don’t. Now why is that? Ask yourself that question if you really love music.

Not all music has to be a message to the future. Some music can just be to dance to, higher energy music to jog to, chill music to study to.

She is a very accomplished singer and I will be forever grateful for providing the theme song for Titanic!

Celine Dion is my #1 worst big-time recording ‘artist’ in the world 🤮
