When will Gary tell us he is going to The Suns?

Much bigger chance to stay now than if they had won the GF. May want revenge on the Pies and prove that the Geelong era ain't over.

Good luck with that Gary.

Cats looked as slow as anything last night and were totally run off their feet and outclassed all over the ground for the first time in over 3 years. The Geelong era is over i am afraid and the wheel has turned.

Liam Pickering (not Picken ;-)) just said the next couple of weeks. He said that both Geelong and Gold Coast will each present to him in that time.

I find that pretty distasteful if that's the way he's handling it. Smells of the way Judd did his deal.

That's not footy.

Agreed. Wikipedia defines 'Aussies Rules' as: a variant of football played outdoors between two teams of 18 players, plus four interchange players, on large oval-shaped grass fields (often modified cricket fields), with a ball in the shape of a prolate spheroid.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_rules_football#cite_note-aflhistory-1The game is commonly referred to as football, Aussie rules or (colloquially) as footy.

Clearly, the actions being taken by Gary Ablett Jr and his management are indeed "not footy". They seem to be much more 'like contract negotiations'. Wisegeek.com defines 'contract negotiations' as: "any discussion, either in person or through electronic means, that has as its primary goal to come to a written agreement concerning a business matter...the term most often applies to labor contracts"

One famous example of contract negotiation in football was in 2002, when Essendon player Aaron Henneman had a long negotiation process in a bid to get a higher wage. AFL players will often use contract negotiations to get a higher wage due to the relative short-time one spends playing professional football. In Henneman's case his negotiation process, while taking several weeks, did indeed lead to a wage increase.

Gary Ablett's motivations for his long contract negotiation process may be similar, but other factors are involved in a contract negotiation, such as lifestyle and success.

Not saying they will but Gary's ego would say otherwise.

He has NO CLUE about how the modern day sporting superstar should handle a situation like this:

Pretty close to the funniest post I have seen

Then GAJr could have announced it once Leigh Brown's goal bounced sideways.

lol....good call

I'd say Gary made a decision very early on in the piece...gc were courting both ablett & selwood, selwood signed with geelong early in the year, i think ablett had already made his decision at that point, gc ahd their man and let selwood go

Don't rush poor Gary, he will tell us when he's good & ready! :D

I'm betting his announcement will be part of the GF halftime entertainment.

A hush will fill the ground as Gazza walks up to a specially erected podium in the center of the MCG whereupon he will ask the crowd to pause for a minute's silence to commemorate all the wonderful games he's played for Geelong.
Shortly after he will declare his intention to defect to the GC followed by a rambling, ten-minute speech about why his decision wasn't based on money. ;)
