Darcy training with North.

“How did we get Darcy McPherson for free, fold the suns”

And then they realize, and cycle continues

I like Darcy though, hope he gets a spot.

Levi Casboult has signed with PBC 🥰
Gee whiz. Palmy are really loading up. They've already got current Grogan Medallist Tom Hickey dominating in the ruck and Aaron Hall playing on ball. Now they're going to add Levi Casboult to their forward line! Unreal. Also great to see another former Sun in Andrew Raines taking up the director of coaching role at PBC. Rainsy is a PBC junior himself so it's an extra special full circle moment.

It's all a flow on effect. The more better and experienced players we have playing in the local leagues up here the better it's going to be for those clubs and the juniors coming through.

Imagine being a young key forward coming through and having Levi Casboult at PBC to offer tips and advice?

It's one of the many advantages of being based in a city with a very desirable lifestyle and it being a great place to raise kids. Tom Hickey, for example, only played for us for two years in 2011-12 and had longer stints in capital cities Melbourne, Perth and Sydney, yet as soon as he retired from the Swans he immediately moved back to the Gold Coast and began playing footy for PBC. Although there's plenty who have moved here that didn't have an affiliation with the Suns like Buddy. It all helps.

I remember Jed Walter mentioning in an interview once that playing for the PBC seniors team with Liam Jones during his AFL hiatus was a bit of a game changer for him in learning the tricks of the trade at the AFL level. The same will hopefully occur with Casboult when he plays/trains with Palmy next year and I'd go further than just the talls and say a small forward like Dylan Patterson could also benefit greatly from playing as a crumbing forward at the feet of Levi.

Very happy to see these guys staying on the GC and contributing at the local level even when their AFL careers end with the Suns.

They all come back
Just wish they'd come back in the prime of their career

To be fair, I think that's starting to change. 27 year old Daniel Rioli is definitely in the prime of his career now coming off a B&F win and played sublime footy in 2024 with very little help. John Noble also happens to be 27 years old. We've been saying it for years, but once we start playing finals then it should become easier to recruit players in their prime and I personally think that's just around the corner.
