Hi guys

Just wondering whether there's a particularly good place to watch Port games on TV when they aren't on FTA?

Last year I went to the Oxford Scholar (Cnr Swanston St and A'Beckett St) which was nice enough, and it's conveniently only a couple of minutes' walk from where i live, although there was one night when the Port vs Sydney game clashed with the bledisloe cup, and every single TV in the place was showing the rugby. I ended up walking around carlton for the first quarter and a half looking for somewhere to watch >.<

so, is there anywhere in melbourne (preferably close to the CBD) that is much better than the oxford scholar to park myself for the games not shown on FTA TV?

cheers :)

ps, GO POWER!! :thumbsu::thumbsu:

The Bells Hotel is where alot of the faithful hangout for games.

It used to be the meeting place for the Vic Supporters Club and I know that there are still quite a few that still head there instead of the Oxford.

The Casino isn't bad. Big screens.

Although I haven't had the nerve to go back since I got kicked out for fighting with a Carlton supporter :eek:

The last time I was in the Oxford Scholar they had Port Adelaide pictures all over the wall. I assumed it was the official base for the Victorian support club or something to that effect.

I'm not sure if that has changed, that would have been 3-4 years ago.

Like some have said Bells Hotel is one place to go. The manager (2IC) is a Port supporter and is a lovely bloke....

A side issue - us Crows supporters are there every week we don't play in Melbourne and it has pretty much become our place to hang out. Having said that I also go to a few Port games there (besides showdowns) and there are a few regulars who are there.

Just a note if you want to go there for a showdown you might want to book in advance as they are generally pretty packed. We are segregated and you guys get one room and we get another (normally) but most of us are pretty friendly....and the winners get bragging rights at the end of the game. The crows have "raffle" type things and all sorts.

In case you didn't know the pub is in South Melbourne so not far from the city and has great food etc..... Ok have I sold the place enough yet?? I should get a commission :p

they had portrait photos of the entire squad (including one of my old school mates, who has yet to make his debut, which i was
impressed at) last year, although last time i looked through the window they didn't have them

Its still the official base for the Vic supporters club and the team heads back there after the game.
