Balta, Baker, Bolton, Graham, Taranto Hopper, Rioli x 2, Short, Sonsie, Gibcus, Clarke, Ralphsmith, Ross, Soldo, Cumberland, Mansell, Sampson Ryan, Tyler Young… with Brown and Banks highly rated.

All under 28.
Himmelberg has already succumbed to our no buns policy in preparation as a likely addition as a FA.

You simply listing players on Richmond's list who are under 28 does not prove anything, especially as many of them are not in your best 22 and have definitely not proven themselves.

Three teams touted as likely top 4 certainties before the season got underway, now find themselves struggling half way into the season.

Each team has their stars.

Each team has their strengths and weaknesses….

Which list would you prefer heading into the future and why?
Geelongs list would be challenging for a flag if they hadn't been gutted by injuries. Lucky to be so close without our 3 best midfielders + ruckman and we have a lot of players playing hurt.

Our current midfield of Bruhn, Blicavs, Ceglar, Holmes and Atkins is seriously bottom two in the league

Most experts had Port, Demons and Lions top 3. Then Cats and Pies next.

Just pointing out there is a bit to work with in the next few years.

Carlton do have a better age demographic than us at the moment.

Richmond are similar to Geelong in which none of their younger midfielder/forward players look like match winners and they are about to lose Danger/Martin

We were saying similar things back in 2014 when it was only Selwood and then a couple of older players having to switch position and play midfield. Stokes & Johnson along with newcomers like T. Hunt, Duncan, Christensen, Horlin-Smith, Caddy.

The rise of Duncan & Guthrie were profound. Guthrie took time but it eventually took the burden away from Dangerfield and Selwood.

Things can turn quickly.
Club will have plenty of $$$ to splash around for the first time in a while given the retirements of past/current players likely done at the end of 2023.

I was saying the same stuff about Stratton, Duryea, Gunston and promising youth like James Cousins, Jonathan O'Rourke and Oliver Hanrahan not that long ago

Young players look 3 times as bad when they have to be The Guy

De Koning, Bruhn, Henry, Knevitt, Holmes, Clark, Stengle, Dempsey and Miers is plenty to begin with. Then if you fall down the ladder at any stage, I’m sure your recruitment team will make the most of the early selections.

Also young players look a hell of a lot better if they are in a good team surrounded by experienced teammates. Prismal look pretty damned good at Geelong, at Essendon though, not so much.

If it was prior to re-signing Harry McKay then I'd say Carlton. Would have put him on the table and used the cap space to go after areas of need, like half forwards and outside mids.

But now that they've completely ****ed their cap by giving him seven years I'd probably go Geelong.

time will tell. But I feel our list is well balanced age wise.

Agree. But we are just looking at the current lists

Yep. See our younger players vs Fremantle when we were missing our 3 best mids
If Carlton had half Geelong's ability to produce solid role players from speculative picks you'd take their list easily. But it's assumed the quality in the current list will be wasted. Probably a fair assumption.
Salary cap management seems a big issue. Need to do some Collingwood style salary dumps asap
Can I introduce Shai Bolton to you …
Yep forgot about him. Does look a chance to become that player

What have Carlton done to Sam Walsh? Looks a shell of himself.
