Definitely agree with those mentioning Larry David, but I don't think that jJerry Seinfeld is on the same wavelength.

Agree. Without Larry David, the TV show Seinfeld would'nt have been a success. They did use alot of Jerry's standup material in the show, particularly early on, but David made the show what it was, especially those first 6 seasons. Also have to mention Larry Charles too. He wrote some of the best Seinfeld episodes.

Everitt, Milligan, Cleese....sessions..

LOL, I was going to quote that

For me, Richard Pryor has to be there.

Pryor is the best standup of alltime in my book. Influenced pretty much every comic that came after.

Chris Lilley anyone?

As far as current Australian comic talent, Lilley is miles ahead of whoever is in second. Anybody know anything about his next series?

My list of alltime comics would be, Pryor, Bruce, Hicks, Carlin.

I agree with most of those who have already been mentioned.

My personal favourites are: John Candy, Rodney Dangerfield, Chevy Chase & John Cleese. :D

However; I propose that the greatest Comedian who ever lived was Charlie Chaplin. IMO he would be the one most deserving of the label "Comic Genius." :thumbsu:

A lot of good comedians here.

A few oldies that were pioneers:
George Burns
Jackie Gleason
Lucille Ball

And from Saturday Night Live, taken way too early from us, John Belushi.

Anyone remember The Goodies?

And of course, one of the greatest radio shows of all time - The Goon Show.

Those two are good but I just don't like Jack Black at all. Steve Carell is funny as well.
I find Jack Black to be just plain annoying, but Will Ferrel was awsome.
I nominate Dave Chappelle, Robin Williams and Bill Cosby

Do you have any conception of what sarcasm is? Would have thought the emoticons made it pretty obvious. I mean Jack Black seriously.

For me I can't go past the Monty Python crew, I think Graham Chapman in particular was underrated.

Surprised at the love for Billy Connolly, relies way too heavily on his accent and the amount of profanity he uses.

Leslie Neilson also a genius IMO.

The Goon Show is classic.

Peter Sellers is great in Dr.Strangelove and Being There also.
