Players must be under 21 on 1 January and also have played 10 matches or less to be eligible for nomination.

Lachie Cowan is 20 at the start of 2025 but is ineligible as he’s played 24 matches.

Ollie Hollands was our last nominee being the year before last in AFL Season 2023.

Carlton players eligible for nomination for the 2025 award:
(as at the end of the ND and RD)

  • Jaxon Binns
  • Harry Lemmey
  • Cooper Lord (Rookie MSD)
  • Hudson O’Keeffe (Rookie, Cat A)
  • Rob Monahan (Rookie, Cat B)
  • Ashton Moir
  • Billy Wilson
  • Jagga Smith
  • Harry O’Farrell
  • Ben Camporeale
  • Lucas Camporeale
  • Harry Charleson (Rookie Cat A)
  • (Matt Carroll - currently train on)
I am backing in Smith, Lord and Moir for nominations.

Did you mean Matt Carroll as a train on Gap?

Billy Wilson would be a listed option.

For me, this is the order of merit for our rookies in 2025.

Moir
Binns
Lord
Smith
Wilson
L Camporeale (just a hunch)
B Camporeale
Lemmey
O'Keeffe
M Carroll - if listed
Duffy
Charleson
O'Farrell
Monahan

I actually think that Binns and Lord will be more consistent than Moir, but I think Moir will get a rising star nomination for a standout game somewhere along the line. I also think he will get more opportunity barring midfield injuries.

I cannot locate Matt Duffy’s age / DOB?
He was 19 in August 2023 which means he is or will be either 20 or 21 at 1 January 2025.

He was still 19 a year ago according to an article in November 2023 so he will have just turned 20. I did think he was older than that though. Maybe throw him in and we can change it if necessary.

So could have had birthday before 31 December so could be 21 by 1 Jan 2025?

No, because if he ws 19 a year ago, he can only have just turned 20 or still be 19 right now.

Moir is my bet. Showed some great signs and the type of player who could definately turn a few heads when he isn't just coming on as a late sub.

Smith will likely get a nomination if he plays, as top picks do have more airtime.

First time in a while that we have a few real contenders to get a nom.

Usually it's the first guy we picked in the ND and crickets.

I think Moir gets 3-4 early season and gets a nom.

Jagga will probably get one later in the season after his 4th 25+ disposal game. One of those body of work noms

Lord is a good shout to have a big game where he announces himself early.

Binns could take the next step and be a regular next season, in which case he should get one at some point. Role players don't win the award though.

Lemmey should be pushing to get a debut in 2025, which should also be an opportunity to nom. Can be hard for the big boys to have a big impact early though.

Wilson could get some play-time, but like Binns, role players aren't rewarded.

When I first read the title, Jagga immediately came to mind. After giving it some more thought, I feel Moir will take the next step next season. He's shown some signs already and looks to have some x factor. I also liked Binns' finish to this season and wouldn't be surprised if he gets a nom. Lord is a sneaky chance too.

Obviously there's lot of talent in the comp but it's great that we have so many players having the potential of getting a nom.

Club have always rated Moir and after the first couple of sessions they were even more excited

If he stays healthy, I believe he will have a sizable impact
