Neitz may get up, holds all records at Melbourne, Club captain for 8 years, Coleman Medalist. Just a thought...
Never hurts to actually know the criteria;
The Madden Medal is awarded for a player’s outstanding achievements on and off the footy field, displays of personal growth over their career, and community and charity endeavours.
Peter Bell.
What about Scotty Burns ?????????
what about him???? wouldn't mention his name in the same sentance as the other players nominated.
Scott Burns is clearly a cut above Mal Michael.
Ridiculous subjective award that tries to 'officially' label one great as greater than others of the same era. All their careers should be celebrated rather than awarding a single one with some type of career achievement award.
I seriously do not see the need for the award. FWIW - I think Harvey will probably win it.
I think the fact someone like Archer won in it in a year where greater players retired at the same time like Buckley and Hird means the award is bit of a joke IMHO.
I agree. Archer was a good player and a great bloke. Shouldn't have received the award ahead of those two you mentioned. Likewise, it would be ridiculous to award it to one of those two ahead of the other. Both greats, and Archer too, in terms of their all round football contribution, I don't see the point in elevating one above the others.

Archer a great bloke? Belting forwards in the back of the head makes you a great bloke? Wow.
