Who Wont Be At West Coast Next Year???

Ashley Hansen, Beau Wilkes, Steven Armstrong and I think someone might pull a bit of a surprise like Sam Butler wanting a fresh start and going back to Adelaide in exchange for Nathan Van Berlo and a pick

Also I reckon Peter Sumich may be at another club.

I think Notte, Mcinley, Lynch and JK will hold us in good stead up forward for KPP, and Hunter, Glass and Spangher will hold up the arse

I think we need another inside mid and maybe a couple of speedy players, for midfield/pocket rotations

Id like to see Lecras in the middle more as well, with Ebert, Masten, Selwoods, Kerr, Brauny.

I think we are one midfield gun short, and hopefully we can get a goalkicking mid like Cooney in the draft.

Dont expect many trades this year just the usual 4 gun picks in the NAB draft.

Would be more like Butler and a pick for Van Berlo. Adelaide won't give up a best 22 player plus a pick for a guy who's struggling to get on the park. They're not Freo.

Anyway I thought the three SA guys - Butler, Waters and Hurn - had all re-signed?

Graham is in danger of getting the cut at the end of this season. Wirrpanda will probably retire. Brauny should retire. Houlihan possibly? Armstrong's got the chance to fight for his spot at the moment.

Appologies, that is what I meant...as Van Berlo is a gun, so to is Butler, but he is obviously injury prone

It's too early for this and a lot of decision rest on whether players retire or not.

I do know that Houlihan should be on the list next year. He's got a fair way to go before he's a good AFL player but he's very much on the right path. Don't know why we wouldn't continue with him.

Not going to happen in a million and ten years!

Our only hope for something like that to happen is to get a Western Australian to come home.

is the draft well a little dry this year?

Not really, i just think he meant that its going to be hard to pick someone up with those qualities who will be ready to be a gun in the next couple of years. A player who is exactly like that is Daniel Rich, but we would need a top.2 pick to get him.

Possibly Yarran would be the pick-up for a goalkicking midfielder, although hes not anything like cooney. Hes more of a natural forward who can develop into a midfielder later on, not a goalkicking midfielder.

Just a related question that I cant recall - whats the rule about minimum de-lists etc each year... isnt it somethng like each team must delist minimum 3 players and take 3 new ones on from drafts?

Yep, you have to draft 3 players onto the main list. How you go about getting those 3 spots free is your business though, for example, you could trade 3 players for 1 pick and then use 3 picks or you could delist 3 players etc.

Players I would trade for the right (realistically what they are worth) amount..

Seaby, Hansen, Hunter and Embley

Don't really care about Graham, Armstrong, Wilkes

If Kerr really did want to go i would swap him for Rich so pick 1 or 2.. He is still contracted...

wouldn't mind seeing us field offers for hunter. Might be able to nab someone like roughead from hawthorn as they need KP backmen. Put Brown as the CHB swingman who can go forward, with glass and spangher as fullback and back pocket. Then Bones could cover any other talls. Jaymie graham should be traded, as he is going to be overtaken by schofield, mackenzie etc in the near future. I think we should persist with butler, as that great season he has in 06, he was only 20 years old and i think if he could get back in the team, fit and healthy, he could be a lenny hayes quality mid (B+). The club should start examining the viability of lynch as a backup ruck option so we could consider trading seaby. Seaby (with a sweetener) would probably get us a pick between 8 and 15 which would allow us to get someone like yarran, swift or deboer in the first round.
Hit list should be:
One inside semi receiver (daniel rich/yarran)
One crumber who could add pace to midfield (varcoe/gartlett)
One outside mid with pace (wells/deboer)
One QUALITY KP forward (Hurley/roughead)

What does everyone think of Daniel Kerr.

Aint having his best season.

Will you use him as trading bait and get a young good gun and a pick or not?

very very unlikely. reason hes been playing a bit down this season is due to his injury earlier in the season as well as getting the number 1 tag in the past few weeks. when priddis and hopefully for the love of humanity butler come back in he'll run riot.

No way on Earth I'd trade Hunter but the rest seems about right

I'd trade Hunter because Brown can play CHB, Glass FB.. Spangher and Jones can play on the other talls... I think Hunter is too slow for a medium sized backman...

He doesn't seem to kick goals when he is not swinging etc... Thats not to say I don't rate him.. I do and would like his market value (whatever that may be) in return... Hawthorn and Carlton would be interested..

Brown can allegedly play CHB.

Hunter isn't a man on man full back but rather a rebounder. I'd be more then happy to give Spangher a go at CHB and release Hunter to create and be back-up.

With our desire to push Selwood, Waters, Hurn and Nicoski up the ground, I feel he is very much required

agreed. Hunter always gets towelled up against teams with multiple high quality KP forwards, like lucas. Bones seems to play hunter's role, but does it better and creates more rebound. We still have Schofield, Brown and Mackenzie waiting in the wings so losing one KP back is not going to destroy the team (unless it is glass). Seaby+ Hunter+ sweeteners for Carltons first pick (3-6)?

We need a Line-breaker.
We have Nicoski, Kerr, Bones and Hurn in particular, but 3 of them are low on form

Also Mike Thompsons boy better get a move on if he wants to hang around. Anyone know the latest???
He'll still be with us next season. He is progressing steady but progressing nevertheless. He was always going to be a long term project player. He has some wonderful physical attributes.

he is actually doing really well as a tagger. Him, Mcginnity and J-mac could all be taggers. Would probably like to see jmac as more of a conventional mid tho.

Come to think of it, I'm pretty happy with our midfield stocks. Our issues are more based upon their structure and form then types.

We need Rosa and Fletch to use their strength which is running hard and providing an option, they should then be dishing off Hurn, Nicoski, Bones etc.

At the moment we are lacking run from our line-breakers and finishers and as such, Rosa and Fletcher are having to do it themselves rather then be link players.

The problem I see is Hurn, Nicoski, Bones (although he has been very good) and to a lesser extend Selwood are being forced to play too accountable in defence and being trapped in middle ground doing neither particularly well. I can understand them playing behind the ball, but why put a bloke you want freed up to run on an Ebert or Motlop? In the case of a turnover, you'll be mauled as we have seen often.
