Here's a theory about why the coach will be announced in a few days...

Angus has told the selection panel "I know you guys have been having a hard time finding a new coach, here's what I can do for you...

I'll call Clarko and Chris Scott (I hope I don't get Brad's number mixed up, they are so similar)...

I'll get whomever loses on Friday night...

and there you'll have it, our new coach at the Springfield Lions (oops I meant Brisbane)..."

I'm sure they'll do it. You'll see, yeah, I'm sure...then it'll be 2016 Flag here we come...no EGM...geez i'm good"

I don't think that a good coach is something you can really test for. I do wonder whether all the psychological data actually clouds the issue rather than shedding light on it. Everything is subjective, except for one thing - results. Tudor has the best track record as far as results go, and my preference would be to go for him, rather than get distracted by a whole heap of other information.

Just look at the glowing recommendations that Neeld received, from the likes of Malthouse. Maybe he was a great assistant, shrewd tactician, but an average senior coach. I think maybe too much emphasis is placed on tactical nous & technical knowledge of the game. The very best coaches seem to be the ones who are great man managers, maybe with a bit of mongrel in them ie Matthews, Malthouse, Clarkson...even maybe Ross Lyon. These blokes gain instant respect out of fear or awe. Was Matthews ever a great game day coach? He probably left that up to his assistants to take care of. But who could argue that he wasn't a great man manager. Alex Ferguson from Man United seemingly was a great manager, but was he a great tactician on match day?

The post I quoted said decision...

Yeah, my point being that they can make a decision in the next few days, even if the candidate is an assistant coach at a finals team. The announcement of the decision may have to wait however.

You make a fair point, but that suggests you disagree with my post. Tudor does not fit that mould.

Points from Leigh's 3AW talk:
. As mentioned new coach in a couple of days.
. Won't be a succession plan approach
.A lot of the current media comments re Brisbane are incorrect.
.Not much difference in all candidates.
After Leigh left the rest of the panel seemed to think Leppa had got the role.

"Baby you light up my world like nobody else."
It's bad enough I have to hear it in the car while my daughter listens to it. I don't need you posting it around on here.:p
It's shameful that you both know those lyrics and from whom they come.
Go away and have a think about where your lives are at.
Who's One Direction?

i dont think it will be leppa , the way we are at the minute they would have fast tracked the decision if so and appointed him by now, i reckon its either simson or tudor , no annoucement till the commitments finish with the club they are with. and there is always the wild card clarkson

maybe monday will be an interesting day

Where can I get a link to listen to?

Sounds like they are fast tracking it considering they were originally saying we weren't going to hear for another few weeks.

I for one welcome our new Leppa overlord.

We appoint a coach and some of these players who have rejected contracts will be called in for meeting, told they're are wanted offered a nice little inflated contract and then their managers will come out with the whole " The uncertainty in the club made it hard for X to sign on, but after meeting with coach Y we were happy to commit to the club. Player X has enjoyed their time in Brisbane and he is looking forward to helping Brisbane make the finals etc!"

Skoob doesn't know who one direction is.

... And that's what makes him beautiful.

I'm pretty sure there is a song reference in there which might be a clever gag to some, but I don't get it because your statement is true.
And that is what makes me beautiful.

Wait, isn't that James Blunt?

I think the club would not have entered this process wanting or expecting a former player to come out in front. That Leppa is at the forefront should be taken as a sign that he has legitimately impressed the panel.

I think the comments about incorrect media reporting are with direct reference to 'Neil Craig', I don't think he has been in the frame for a while now, or else they would have already announced (may be a senior assistant) and the succession plan, I believe we only mentioned that early on to make it public that we were open to the idea If Roos was involved.

The pains around here and other parts has been surprising to me in relation to Craig. There has been nothing concrete out side of him being interviewed to suggest he was the front runner.

The best predictor of future behaviour is past behaviour. As such, the interview would definitely be the prized piece of recruitment information. The personality test would more than likely just integrate with and add weight to that info, rather than being the sole driver.

Are you suggesting that Andrew Hamilton can at times be inaccurate?

He DOES have a good poker face.

I took some very different observations from Leigh's comments and after listening to it, I am a bit confused about some of the discussion about it. Was I listening to a different interview?

- he said a decision would be made in the next couple of days, made no mention of the announcement, could still be 2 weeks away, just so we can, for example - categorically run a mark through the Clarkson or Tudor if things go wrong for the Hawks and Sydney.
- he said 'read the papers' to stay up to date, seemed to indicate whilst some reporting is off, some of it was close to the truth, I spose some of it it good info, he did say some was fiction.
- he said one candidate stands out from the rest and eventually you have to just go with you gut.
- he gave his personal view on a succession plan, but didn't say it was not going to happen, he knocked the idea of implimenting one but that may have have just been to distance himself from it eventually being implemented, especially with the current board situation.

the 'decision' he refers to is the decision on who to recommend to the board, not the 'final decision/ announcement'.

I don't thing it's Craig. I feel like it will be leppa.
