I've only been to Colonial once. I'd heard alot of bad press about it, so I was prepared for the worst, but I was actually quite impressed with it. I'm not sure if it was because we had really good seats or not, but I thought it was great! I was hoping that they'd have to shut the roof, just so I could see what the atmosphere was like - unfortunately it stayed open.

I am the same as you, went over there last year expecting the worse but found it a great stadium. Good seats, great viewing & you didn't have to go out of the ground to smoke.

The stadium itself is brilliant. I love it. There are some problems with the ticketing, but I think we will probably see an improvement in that this year.

Being an Essendon member without a reserved seat, I have to pay for a seat every week, and if I want to go to a game with a non member(s) I have to wait until tickets are open to the general public to purchase them. Either way I'm unlikely to get tickets on level 2 which really pisses me off. It'll be interesting to see the different approach taken by the stadium to fix up the ticketing farce last year.

The worst thing about Colonial [soon to be Commonwealth Bank ] Stadium is those DICKHEADS that do the pre-match,qtr,halftime and 3 qtr time crap.
Andrew Startin,Craig [the voice of AFL]Willis,Dipper and James Sherry are the guilty party

I don't like Colonial. It just does not feel like a sports stadium. Perhaps I am just to use to the MCG.

I havent been there, however a mate went there and had nothing but praise.
Brilliant View, Nice Food, Not big lines. The only bad things i've heard of it are in the media.

I went to CS twice last year and thought it was fine. I sat in the top deck both games and could see everything (including Richo's season ending injury)

My concern is that I read some time back that the surface is still going to be fixed up piece by piece rather than ripping the whole lot up and starting afresh. Unfortunately it will still look like a patchwork quilt again this season even with the new US system that will be used.

I don't see what the fuss is about. I've went 4 times to Colonial last year and so what if you have to book a seat. Everyone else in Adelaide/Perth/Sydney and Brisbane have to so why should the Vics be any different. Get with the program, it is a great stadium for viewing, great for atmosphere and you are always dry. Would you rather be freezing your you know whats off on a Friday at the "G" or being inside in relative comfort. I don't see what the problem is?

i guess the main reason i dont like it is its the same all round the ground.... i always feel that its the character of the ground that makes it and not the facilities available... and thats one thing really lacking there. Viewing wise etc its not too bad.. its just hard to get excited there.... unlike the mcg or even waverley where just looking around the place builds up the excitement.... i suppose we should really hold off on our judgement for a few years and give it more of a chance..... as maybe once we get a few good memories there then we may come to appreciate it more....

Sorry Mags but I think Colonial Stadium is a fantastic venue.

Great view, excellent atmosphere, easily accessible and plenty of seats for the general public.

Did you know that if your team is the away team and you have an Adult 16 or Concession 22 ticket, you can pay a $4 booking fee at any Ticketmaster outlet two weeks before the match and have a good chance at getting a seat on level 1 or 2?

Hardly worth the effort I know but if you must have your level 1 seats, perhaps you should try this method.

And I don't know what your opposition to reserved seating is anyway. What is wrong with getting together with all your mates and getting an annual reserved seat. It can be expensive but definitely worthwhile if you can afford it.

Despite our pitiful 2000 season, I found nothing better than arriving at a game and having the whole city side of the ground on level 1 supporting the mighty saints.

Mags, i dont mind Colonial, get to go to the Casino before and after every game there! My only gripe is a selfish one, only took me max half hour to get home from Waverley, takes me about one and a half from Colonial, and i cant believe people are saying the food is good, overpriced crap is what i would call it. If i want sushi id go to a Japanese restaurant.

I went to one AFL game last year and that was at Colonial (Stk v Bulldogs - sorry saints !!)

I thought it was great...easy access, good seats and that night it was free.

I disagree with you sainter....I much prefer the crowd to be mixed up rather than sitting just with supporters of my team. I will often deliberately go and sit with the opposition to make the day/night more interesting.

Every been to footy park ? Boring as hell with only one teams fans there.
