why do we draft short people?

Always the negatives.
Nobody is perfect, but try these on for size.
His standing vertical jump of 70cm put him in the top 11 per cent of those tested
His running vertical jump (83cm) rocketed him into the top 4 per cent
He ran 3.05 seconds over 20m, 8.14 seconds for the agility test, and scored 15.4 in the shuttle run, placing him in the top 4 per cent.

Tugga, I wouldn't call anything over 3 sec for 20mtr , 8.1 for the agility or under 75 for standing vertical great ?

who cares if we recruit only short people

didn't you guys watch Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? The Oompa Loompas kicked Veruca Salt's arse - proof they obviously hate Essendon peeps

granted they are a tad too much into the spray on tan, but it is the era of the metro-sexual

And they could hold a tune as well.

Not trying to single you out either here TD , but people need to stop reading into posts what isn't there and they also need to stop assuming that every user is a baby faced , wet behind the ears adolescent who has never played , watched or been involved within football to their level and therefore aren't entitled to an opinion !

You might want to stop being a condescending you know what when it comes to other peoples opinions also. Pot meet kettle.

They certainly do a 5 , 10 and 20 Tug , generally all at the one time, I'll see whether I can't find the results ?

Look, i don't really care what all the tests say. Greg Williams, Sam Mitchell and Paul Broderick were all slow as treacle and probably would have been laughed out of today's draft camp.

Is Blair Hartley your draft guy?

When he was with us, he drafted a lot of left field players and most have worked out.

Hartley is the guy who chases currently listed players. He got Grigg and Houli lastnyear and Maric this year.

I don't care that they are "only" 180/181cm.

The are hard bodies and great competitors. Not skinny flankers!

They have great endurance and a never say die attitude. We have been lacking these types for years at punt road.

With Maric, Morris, Ellis and Arnot we are building a team of warriors. The team is really starting to look like its coach and play like its coach used to.

I am looking forward to the coming season very much with less cream puffs in the side and more tough nuts!

:thumbsu::thumbsu:

I was thinking the same thing. FJ came out today and said the same thing too. We are drafting a team of Dimma look-a-likes! Can't wait to see them develop under the great man himself!

No more Wallace cream puffs (McMuffins)!
No more Frawley skinny types (Fiora).

After a couple more preseasons our boys will have the opposition shaking in their boots! The MCG will once again be the colosseum where the frail are eaten alive by the TIGERS!

On victory we thrive; Just eat 'em alive!

Definition of Midget: Dwarfism, in medicine, is the condition of being undersized, or less than 127 cm (50 inches) in height. The term midget is usually applied to physically well-proportioned dwarfs. The term pygmy is applied to people whose shortness of stature is a racial trait. For the purpose of power, short people will be attempted to be used, but the short people will eventually be turned into a pygmy-like race.

lol none of those three got drafted on the back of playing hbf.

lets see we draft him,to play back hopefully to develop him into a mid in time.we take him in the hope he will take on the smaller forwards provide some run and aggresion. if hes slow of the mark hes going to get chewed up and spat out by small forwards who in the main are lighting by neccesity.
at 182 if he plays on a steve johnson for example hes going to be taken deep one out and out marked. size and speed does matter.

yep i really care if hes quick or not because its important.

they took the bloke that they considered to most likely be a good footballer, still available.

they were not narrow minded enough to discount him because he played across half back or was not over 6 ft.

Your point means nothing.
He was drafted. End of story.
Where we play him, is yet to be seen.
Just because he played half back in TAC Cup means zilch.

Dare you to stand in front of the short people we just recruited and take a bump head on. Our existing short people like Edwards will now be depth players!:D Great recruiting for mine and yet again time will tell!

I like how cairo has a cry and then suggests we should have got Shane Kersten over Elton despite him being a midget for a KPP @ 190cm.

Elton and Kersten are very different types.

Elton probably has more risk associated with him (viz. Adam Pattison) as he's been recruited essentially as a KPP only. Shows a bit for a big lad but lacks some consistancy possibly due to his youth and size.

Kersten has the speed and flexibility to assume a variety of roles. His 191cm/90kg frame could see him debuting in 2012 according to Chris Scott.

Nice try but patto was a unique case in that his most redeeming feature was he was widely regarded as the funniest bloke at punt rd, sadly his footy was a joke too. Couldnt kick, mark, was S L O W ...but he had a dip I'll give him that and he had endurance. Elton has speed, hands like a steel trap and kicks like a muel. Hopefully we can stir his desire and he can make an impact with the tools he brings in the kit bag:thumbsu:

i think he s nothing like patto.firstly hes quick no like patto. he ran a 2.93 20m sprint. really quick for a guy of his size. patto would be lucky to run a 3.20. secondly his leap is better than patto as well. thirdly he kicks the ball like a mid not mechanical like patto. unfortunately patto was the classic not fast enough for a kpf not tall enough for a ruck. elton on the other hand has all the tools to make it. now whether he does like all draftees who knows but by means is he a patto clone. i think he was quicker than kerston for the 20m sprint, and some say played like another mid in the middle, which is good for versatility.kpf, kpb and a ruck.
