Worsfold said that we could make the 8 in 2010.

With no injuries to our guns Glass, Kerr, Shuey, Hurn, Houlihan for losts of it, Butler.

There is no reason why not.

We were 3-5 when Glass went down for good.
We had already lost Kerr.
Shuey was gone as well.
We should have beaten Port but Butler went down.
We could have been 4-4.

Worsfold was right on the money.

At the end of 2010 we had many new players and in the last 4 games aquitted themselves really well.

We will still have the end of 2010 team plus Glass, Kerr, Houlihan, Butler.

Its not toooo bad - is it - really.

The East is not following these realities and might experience a shock next year.

Our injury disasters helped us unearth Hams, Strijk, Stevenson, Sheppard earlier than expected

Dude the way you post is pretty funny, but give it a break for a bit because it's just getting annoying.

As for the content of the post, yeaa we were lacking quality but lets be honest: Glass is going downhill, Kerr hasn't shown much for 2+ years and the only time he can win us games is when he isn't tagged (basically never now), Shuey is a gun but wouldn't be winning us games at this point - he's gotta develop, we still lost games with a fit and firing Hurn and Butler, Houlihan is outside and pacy which stands out but he would have only made the poor skills more noticeable.

We have to hope the young guys develop, relying on Kerr and Glass to carry our team isn't gonna help our future premiership side.

Two good points - no team would be able to excel with the loss of two AA players and the young quality of Hurn and Shuey out.

Where we could have been is hypothetical.

But, Hams and Strijk were great finds. Shep was always going to be quality.

The loss of Glass also allowed emerging back ben to be tested. There are good signs there as well. Glass was at 30-50% in his last few fames played.

keep it up GE, love your work.

I don't think we're going to have an injury free season but if the majority of the players you mentioned are fit and firing we will come very close to the 8 and shock many!

Why did WC have so many injuries this year? It got ridiculous. Everyone knows that's the key to being successful - keeping your best players out there.

Hopefully this new interchange rule will have an effect but I doubt it will. The eagle's best 22 is a very good team but we may never see it.

Eventually we have to turn the corner and start winning more games especially at home as we do hold a greater home ground advantage than Melbourne based sides. We simply need to start winning at home, especially those close games we dropped last year. Oh, and hopefully we get to play the Swans at Subi next year, the last two seasons we've only played them once, both in Sydney.

Also should be winning games against the Lions at the GABA as well as Dees and Tigers in Melbourne.

Really need a decent run with injuries and be able to get our best 25 on the park for most of the year.

Our list management has been diabolical. Freo are kicking our ass in this regard. They don't carry players past their use-by date. How the hell are Hansen, Jones, Nicoski, JON, Dalziell etc still on our list for 2011? We finish last but Freo have a bigger turn over of players than us? Give me a break.

Freo aren't in that good a shape. They rely heavily on their older players. They will drop away quick. They rushed their rebuilding stage and I think that will cost them. They will be rebuilding in a few years when McPharlin, Grover, Pav etc all come to the end.

In saying that, I don't think they have the talent to win a premiership but they might because of the opposition. They are peaking at the right time. Geelong, Saints and Bulldogs are going to fall away. Collingwood are not the "great" team that Geelong were. Good on Freo for going for it but will probably end in tears.

WC are set up with talent similar to Melbourne, a number of high draft picks now.

I think this is spot on and 2011 will be interesting.

Whenever a Freo troll starts carrying on about how good they were in 2010 I ask them when did Freo ever make finals two years in a row?

The silence is deafening.:D

They also showed how without Sandilands they couldn't win a game.

The difference between Freo and the Eagles last season was how well their older players supportered the young guys, this provided the young crop with confidence and a huge lift.

The Eagles lost Kerr, Glass, Butler. Cox started very slowly and should have spent a month getting fit in the WAFL.

Freo have lost Tarrant and Haselby who were both good last year and Sandilands is starting to show the wear and tear of shouldering the ruck for 90% of games.

Freo must strike now for a flag, before Pav, Sandilands, Grover, McFee and McFarlin are finished. Thats pretty much their entire spine that will be rooted in 2-3 years.

Hope your right Go Eagles. Got no reason not to be optimistic. Like a number of people have mentioned its all about getting the best 22 out on the park as much as possible. That menas a lot of games from both Glass and Kerr.

Backline just looks completely different without Glass. EMac unfortunately just couldn't handle going with the best full forwards. Best option for him is to take the second or even thirs best tall. I'd have him in the best 22 no doubt but. Rather him than Schofield, Jones X 2 or Spangher if he gets a lifeline.

Butler's terrible injury prone but did good jobs as a small negating defender on dangerous small fowards.

Kerr is so vital to out ladder positioning in 2011. If we can get a good season out of him that would be great news. He fits our midfield needs so well, has got the speed and has classy skills. Will be a welcome breath of fresh air to a one paced midfield

I think it would be a surprise if we improved dramacitally for next year. Us and Brisbane are the only teams not expected to move up too much. Essendon with Hird are likely to improve more while the rest of the outer 8 can all make a case for the inner 8 for 2011.

We were expecting to improve this year, funny how things change. Aren't the eagles better off now though? The calibre of players that were injured really gave the wooden spoon to us but some young players flourished. With the top line players back surely we are in a better position than we were at the end of 09.

Also take into account that WC really didn't get thrashed this year (bar a few). Played very well against Geelong in Geelong right before the finals. Had a number of close finishes and we get another top midfielder in the draft.

i really dont think things are as bad as they seem.

once those younger guys start hitting 50-60 games we'll be looking a shitload better.

the pain of seeing us in this state is pretty hard to bear though.

Optimism is nice to have but reality can be a real bitch, sadly somewhere between your sense of exciting things to come in 2011 and complete and utter failure is where we shall fall.

Compared to being between absolute fairytale and failure is where I would like to be....not quite into that realm yet.

I've got no doubt that with the new draftees and the current list we'll become a top 4 team(not next year but sometime in the future). What is completely unclear is whether it will be good enough to be a premiership team

Well this year as ive said many of times early in the season the mature "PREMIERSHIP" players did not contribute which leaves the kids no where.. but the most exicting thing about next year the youngest group we put out which was V geelong it was the best performing side of the year and shuey having impact after a year away from the game..

I think about this alot I believe we wont get a premiership due to GC and Melb we will be like Saints sadly..

Take a look at Shuey's kicks. Make sure you choose highes ADSL 2 picture quality on the right there.

They are amazing.
He also spotted a guy 50 meters away with his left foot in the same game.

The EAGLES YOUNG SQUAD also almost beat Port in
Adelaide.
And it was a come from behind scneario.

The young players were definately giving it a red hot go in the last 4 rounds.

They will be stronger next year.
Stevens is a great find for simple no nonsense energy.

Eagles will certainly be competative next year if they can put there
BIG FOOTY inspired best 22 out there.

Port will collapse from 10th - big chance for the spoon

Disagree on Essendon as well.

Brisbane will go back up though if Brown and Fev can stay injury free. their season was cruelled after those blokes went down
