Why is Melb v Rich at the Telstra Dome?

* Melbourne fans traditionally hate the stadium, so the crowd will be a Pro- Richmond crowd.

* The stadium holds 53,312 people, wheras the MCG holds around 80,000.

* Richmond are flying atm, and dont their fans know it, they will certainly be out in force, and if it were at the MCG there would be 70K there, the stadium would be a sea of yellow and black.
Its great for footy when the Tiger Army is out and about.

So why is this game not being moved to the MCG?
Surely it would be in the best interests of Melbourne to get the game back at the MCG, as it would result in more $$$.

Thoughts?

No idea. Maybe because they (TD) had only one game last week. Stupid reason if true.

most likely to do with TV agreement.

oh well I hope a stack of Tigers supporters turn up. Hand over their $$$ cause it is a dees home game and we could use a decent gate return.

would prefer to see it at the G but if it is at TD will still be there anyway so doesn't really matter.

Why bother posting that, Stan?

Is the afl supposed to have a crystal ball.

The draw is done months before the season and people still question why sides are drawn to play there and why not move this game here.

Maybe they should consult nostradamus so as to keep people happy i suppose.

The game is where it is, irrespective of how good your side is at the time.

Rather than focus on where the teams are, given that both are resident of teh G, they should be playing there. Schedule the four co-tenants on different days, or weeks.

Bottom line is that it's a salute from the AFL to the MCC.

Logistically, nothing can be done about it now. Then again, if Waverly was still in existence (and they had lights), you would've had a big crowd there as well and this would not have been brought up.

Melb v Rich is sold out.

I would have gone if it was at the 'G

You are a goose. It's not sold-out. Always an excuse not to attend. If it was at the 'G' it would definately get an extra 10,000. The hard-core, or ones like urself always make an excuse not to go to games at the Dome. Of course most Tiger and Demon fans want the game at the G but no matter where it is, if ur a proper supporter you'll go no matter wat. Soft as butter Bentleigh.

GO TIGES!!!

This argument is not about the quality of the side. The simple fact of the matter is that this is a Dees home game, and the TD is not our home stadium. There is no other match scheduled at the G (obviously, being Friday night footy and all), so the logical decision would have been to play the Melbourne home game at its home ground - the MCG.

I would not have thought the AFL needed a crystal ball to see that.
