Why are there no day games schedueled for 2009 at the Gabba? SCG, Subiaco, AAMI etc seem to have a pretty balanced amount of night/day games yet only night games at the Gabbatoir...

Why???

Mainy due to the fact that we get very poor attendances on a Sunday afternoon and the Lions like games on a Saturday night only. Games at the Gabba on a Sunday afternoon aren't enjoyable as it's too hot. At the breaks and during the game people are in the grandstand concourse because of the beaming sun and people end up leaving at half time. When Sunday games were on at the Gabba I went in as a potato and came out as a tomato, even after suncream.

Also, the Broncos play 80% of their games on either a Friday night or Sunday afternoon, very rarely do they play a game on a Saturday night. So the AFL and the Brisbane Lions are smart to avoid a clash (only 2 of the Lions 11 games scheduled at the Gabba will be played in the same weekend when the Broncos are also playing at Suncorp) to bulid attendances, get more viewers watching the game and by gaining revenue and profits. Moreover, junior AFL is played on a Sunday, so many kids (and families) miss out going to games. All makes sence to me.

They've been getting the early start Sunday games for years, they probably deserve a few years without any. **** of a timeslot.

I rekon, the game is like 1:10-3:50pm, the hottest part of the day and in the state that has the highest skin cancer rates for the world, it isn't good at all. A Sunday twilight game should be trailed (sp) instead. If the Gabba had a roof it would be different.

I like it at night as well.

You can sit down in front of the tele and go through 3/4's of a carton of ice cold XXXX watching the game.

After the game there is nothing better then driving down to dominoes and getting a couple of pizzas before coming back to finish the rest of the carton and sit down and watch the replay of the game.

Nice to see you take the 0.05 law seriously:D

18 beers in 2 hours, down to domino's for a couple of meat-eaters and then home for another 6 beers - well done son - get the MBF up-to-date and make sure you tick the box that says - CARDIAC.

The Lions really need to improve their crowd average. Their crowds ranged from about 22-34,000 this year. They should filling the 42,000 stadium on a weekly basis just like West Coast and Fremantle do. Lift your game Lions

Umm, Sydney? They get in the 20s with like 5 times the population. They should be filling ANZ Stadium on a weekly basis.

It's a bloody disgrace. They get 15 night games and 18 Saturday games.

Dont know about anybody else, but I actually get sick of the Lions playing on Saturday nights. I'd like some variety.

I love it, but like 70% of our games on a Saturday night are foxtel broadcasted games, so it's not a problem to those who live in Melbourne as you get the other Saturday night game on channel 10.

In conclusion, night games good :thumbsu:, sunburn and sunday games at the gabba bad .

Must try that tactic with some XXXX light next yr, havent touched that stuff yet coz im too busy with the good stuff!! Just wish we didnt cop Swans games on the telly on Sundays though, need to get on it for painkilling/ memory suppresing reasons then!!

I don't understand...in July/August it's too hot to play footy during the Day in Bris Vegas?

Yes. The Gabba is an enclosed stadium and Bris Vegas is semi tropical. Mate I got sunburnt at a game last season after forgetting the sunscreen. To be brutal I hate with a passion day games at the Gabba and it only out of loyalty that I go.
