Lol, keepers have their bad days, especially at Lords. Notice Flower said it was the most difficult place he has ever kept.

Took the catch and that's what matters.

What was the excuse at Worcester and the home and away series against S.A.?

His lateral movement stinks, have a look next time he moves across or "dives" for a ball.

i haven't seen enough of prior to comment - unlike others, i'm not going to pretend that i have.

i have seen a lot of haddin and can comment.

i used to keep back in the day, and whilst i wasn't great at it, i received a lot of coaching back in the day so i know a lot about what keepers are supposed to do.

haddin's weakness is a keeper is the same thing that makes him such a great batsmen. he doesn't have a fantastic technique as a batsman - but he has a fantastic eye.

and relying on his eye is his downfall as a keeper. to watch him is know that it is plain as day when he loses concentration. when he does, he doesn't stay low. he stands up to soon, which means he isn't getting the right line on the ball. and when the ball stays low, it means he's on his way up and has to try and go back down. and because he's already standing up by the time the ball comes to him, that's what takes away from his footwork. imagine, or even try it - when you're crouching, you can move further and quicker from side to side than you can if you're standing.

why this hasn't been coached out of him is beyond me... there isn't a thing wrong with his eye or his footwork. it's a tiny little technical issue that he's standing up quicker than he should be.

in a nutshell, yes... it's easier to spring from side to side coming from a squatting position than it is from an upright position. you also get a much better read of the line and length of the ball from the lower position.

save for a massive wide or something, you shouldn't really be standing up before the ball has passed the batsman. if you cant stand up in time, you're standing too close.

Haddins footwork is simply non existent. When he dives he doesn't push off and launch, he simply flicks his body horizontally out and stretches for the ball. This movement has cost us so many runs this test match. Also he looks quite slack at times to get his hands to the ball but once again thats probably due to his shithouse footwork.

Manou is a much better keeper. He is extremely good keeping to the spinners as well.

His batting used to be a problem, but he has always had talent. Now he has tightened his technique and has mae some big runs for SA.

The gap between Haddin and Manou isn't that great.

Totally agree, and if I were an Aussie selector I'd be pushing for Manou in the 3rd Test so we could make up our minds who would be better value in future Tests. I don't like to criticise keepers, but I have been so annoyed by Haddin in this Test, he is clearly not up to the job.

I rate Luke Ronchi as the next heir to the test match keeping throne.

This is what I thought last year before the season, but Ronchi had an awful year with the bat and was dropped for the last couple of matches. I like the look of Matthew Wade, how old is he?

he tipped one "over the bar" last night off siddle

hes a very leaky keeper

very very leaky

i wonder

if his batting starts to go he'd have to be replaced

hes also not gilly with the bat either. hes a more contained batsman/ keeper. likes to build an innings, rather than blast an attack away like gilchrist

Its always tricky replacing a keeper, he would have to dip in batitng form for our selectors to consider dropping him. But he scored a 100 last match so that won't be any time soon.
