So....the Chief has been given Life Membership due to his 8 years service with the blues

fantastic news.....wish him the best for the 2009 season....lets hope he continues on from playing his best footy in 2008

Go the Wiggler!!

Congratulations to Chief.

The perfect example of someone that doesn't necessarily have good skills but is willing to work hard to achieve his goal.

100 games is a huge achievement for him, and coming off his best season let's hope he at least continues this form into the future. If he does, he'll be kept as a depth player at the very least.

Well done Wiggo - you now have your name etched into Carlton history forever, with your name proudly displayed on the #34 locker. You have done this club proud.

Here's hoping for another 47 games to reach the 150 ;)

Sticks' first real decision as Pres lol. He loves the Chief.

Seriously, Wiggins seems like a real clubman. Heart and soul of the club type...a bit like Rhino was.

Does anyone know if he was inducted under a set criteria. Is it 100 games?( surely it would be 200 for life membership) or years of service?(is 8 years service automatic) or some other reason?

I believe it was for senior representation over 8 consecutive seasons.

I did a bit of background research, and it turns out he was actually eligible under two criteria:

Clause 2(a): A player may be automatically inducted if said player is made of pure awesome and wears 24 carat gold pants.

Wiggins is, and does.

Also:

Subsection 4(b): A player may be inducted if he serves a minimu-WIGGINS!!!!!11!

As you can see, he fits the bill on both counts.

Go the Chief!! Expecting big things from Simon next year and beyond. He has all the essentials to be a great lead up smaller type forward and his strength getting better will only be better for him when playing one on one. Will be in our 22 for a while I think.:D
