Not in our best 22 IMO...

Correct............he was in best10 against the cats.;)
CFC would disagree given that he has played the first two rounds and will play again this week.
Who should be in instead of Wiggo?

(Don't waste my time with give the kids a go arguement, proven performers only at this time thank you.)

Warrants a spot in our 22 at the moment. But probably won't be at the club in 2-3 years when we are a serious premiership threat unless of course he has a massive turn around in that time in regards to skill and decision making which is unlikely. The question is do we try and win games now at the development expense of players such as Edwards, Grigg, Anderson etc. or do we play kids like them at the expense of winning games now????

Proven performers..youre kidding...Wiggins is hardly a proven performer!
Blackwell, Bower...would much rather these guys in thank you...

Best ten against the Cats when we get flogged by 10 goals hardly means you had a good game does it??

Spose we should drop Murphy......can't have had a good game if we got flogged right? (Don't type silly things like this again please)

Secondly, why would you drop the ONLY........ONLY forward/flanker who not only consitently led all night, but led his man all night, marked well and delivered well.............move on.......

For sure, he won't be in our best 22 in a few years.....maybe....... this assumes that all the bright young things that we picked up actually convert their potential into real skill etc.
Not very many of them will. Cold hard fact of the draft.
Bring in Bower or Blackwell, for a forward flanker?

Whatever.

Murphy is a 10 year player and has more class on one foot than Wiggins will ever have...what has that got to do with anything anyway!

Why do you take things so personally???

Listen idot, if i want to type my thoughts on the subject i will...
How old are you 5???

Wiggins is a dud...

You were saying that being in the top 10 players in a side that gets flogged doesn't mean much.......my point, which you have missed (rather spectacularly before flying right off the handle), is that...........nevermind...........not sure you'll get it the second time either.

There, feel better now..............

I think there is more anger in you yet.........let it out.......I can take it..........:thumbsu:

Ok ive calmed down now...

If youre in the top three players when youve been flogged it may mean youve had a decent game...Murphy would be one of those! (Wiggins wasnt)
Wiggins doesnt hurt the opposition with anything he does....Not good enough by foot, doesnt kick enough goals...enough said, broken record...

I would replace him with Blackwell or Bower, you dont need to replace a forward with a forward...

Good on you Bluebear, I am sure Wiggo will prove us both right this year, and if he doesn't obviously his contract won't be extended at the end of 2008. Either way CFC is doing the right thing by keeping Wiggins in the best 22, he doesn't turn games on its head but does everything possible to assist those in the side that do. He is close to playing 100 games. Give the bloke a chance people....

Not one nomination for a club that would take Wiggins. The silence is deafening.

Good call.

None of us were going to dignify it with a response........but since you asked nicely - Kangaroos.:p

Bluebear, you support of Wiggins is admirable but in all seriousness, this is a guy who was taken in the top 20 of his draftand has shown very little suggest he is ever going to be a good AFL player. Why not bring in Blackwell, Bower or Edwards and make some changes to the set up to give a young kid a chance. Wiggo has plenty of courage and always has a go, but unfortunately he is not good enough. It is time to move on and play another young player. Surely if a guy isn't good enough, which Wiggins isn't, he shouldn't get a game!!

Because if you have to pick the best 22 at the VERY MOMENT he would be in it.

And just because he is a top 20 doesn't mean he doesn't have the same amount of time to prove himself at AFL level. He is very tough and presents well in the forward line give him a go till seasons end then asses

Look through the stats from the last match, then talk to me again.
Exactly what did Edwards do on the weekend to force his case?
Playing kids just for the sake of it again eh? May as well draw numbers out of a hat........Teaguey might get another roll though, so you'd better rig it..........better still, selection could be based on throwing darts at a board blindfolded.........look at his stats and don't come back:cool:

P.S. Its not his fault he was taken so high........and the phantom draft of that year had a similar position, so take that excuse and snort it.

Enough of the Wiggins bashing he warrants a spot in our 22 at the moment and thats that. Young players shouldn't be played for the sake of it they have to earn their spot and as Blue bear said Edwards didn't really set the world on fire on the weekend so he doesn't warrant a spot. If Blackwell can string a couple of good games together for the Ants then by all means bring him.

im sorry but wiggins has been a second rate player for too long... we have to get rid of him. he has never reallyever stepped up for us!

No......you're quite right.

7 kicks, 9 handballs, 8 marks
Absolute rubbish.

Waite - 5 kicks, 4 hanballs, 2 marks
Fisher - 9 kicks, 1 handball, 5 marks (2 goals)
Fev - 5 kicks, 1 handball, 2 marks
Lance - 5 kicks, 5 handballs, 0 marks
Cloke - 8 kicks, 5 handballs, 6 marks
Ackland - 7 kicks, 5 handballs, 7 marks
Lappin - 4 kicks, 9 handballs, 6 marks
Thornton - 8 Kicks, 5 handballs, 3 marks
.......I won't go on

While we are at it we should get rid of Simpson...........bad game last week and I think he's past his best.......all down hill from here.
Its also only a matter of time before waite and Fisher hurt themselves, so proabably should get rid of them too..................

At risk of people missing the point of the thread (wasn't to pump up Wiggins), but we shouldn't make knee jerk reactions and drop people, as he was ordinary against Richmond, but......clearly......for anyone that can read the above and move past their own personal bias........had we dropped Wiggins for last week we would have lost out.

YEPPO.

Yet again WIGGO provides the target at half forward that Whitnall, Waite, Fisher and Kennedy are yet to provide. Wiggins comes a lot cheaper than most of them but still is better at making space and leading hard than many of those guys.

I would take WIGGO over Fisher for our current team structure any day of the week.

Well its clear a logical debate with you about Wiggins is impossible. All I am saying is that Wiggins isn't in the future of the club, do you argue with that?

Were you at the game on Sunday? Edwards presented well when he was moved forward and looked very promising. Why not play a young guy in place of Wiggins who does not cut it consistantly at the senior level.

Is it better to blood the kids and give them a chance or continue playing guys who don't cut it at senior level?

Your not just saying Wiggins isnt the future, you are also indicating that he should be dropped this week.

You just CAN'T (and Pagan won't) do that! He was our best forward on the weekend!!

We will know by the end of this year whether the wiggler will make the cut or not.

Correct, I see no point in playing a guy who consistantly has not cut it at senior level. He is in his 7th year at the club and has not nailed down a position. Yes he try's, fantastic, we need players who week in week out will perform, and put simply, Wiggins does not. Time to cut losses and make a decison. Play Edwards and see what happens with him up front. Pick Bower or Blackwell and change the set up.

I get frustrated with a seeing the same people making the same mistakes week in week out. 7 years is a long time in the AFL, and if Wiggins was going to make it, he would have by now.

If he played the type of game he played on the weekend every week then he could probably be a solid player.

Still don't understand how you can want to drop him after the game he just had.

Other than that, I see where your coming from regarding the amount of time he'e been on our list. If he doesnt become a solid player this year, then the club will have to delist him. We simply wont have enough room on our list.
