With all the talent coming through the ranks Haileybury won't be beaten for a very long time. I think Carlton will win a premiership before Haileybury lose a match

Na they will get beaten shortly, you watch, talent you mean coming through the ranks as in a few boys from the U/17 Vic team that rock up in yr11 to play footy?

Haileybury are the best APS team by a long way and they should win every game
So far they have beaten every team very easy (ave winning margin is 77points) and if they can kick straight they will win by more
They work well together and share the ball around
There should be a few to go on and play in the AFL
If you get the chance to see this great team in action make sure you do so when they talk about the best team of all time in the APS you can say you watched them play

How much Yr 11 talent is there? Didn't 2's get beaten by BGS and 9's by MGS. Maybe not as much depth as you think !

Yep its true Haileyburys current team is th best team the APS has seen for quite some time. After last weeks game against Brighton the Brighton coach said in his speech that he thought this was the best APS team he had ever seen in his 12 yrs of coaching and just two weeks ago the Melbourne coach said exactly the same thing.
Its true boys, Haileyburys team is an unbelieveably talented team, and all this talk about non school spirit/ team spirit is rubbish as nearly every single boy in that team hangs out with each other during or after school. They love the school and are best mates.

Im SICK of hailubury boys trying to take credit for the 1st teams talents so im gonna have my say.

Look, it is very obvious that Hailebury is an extremly talented team. Their results show that so far. But i personally that this is an empty victory.

IM NOT saying that scholarships are bad things. I think that most teams would have a few scholarships players on their team. Scholarships can be a great opportunity for certain players to gain opportunities that they otherwise couldn’t (such as the aboriginal program at scotch), such as a better education and a chance to play in the home of football where they will be noticed more by the football community.

I think that hailubury have taken it too far. I doubnt that theres anyone who doesnt respect the team but I also doubt that anyone who doesnt go to Hailebury really respects the school anymore. Personally I feel more sorry for the boys at the school who went through the 7,8,9 and 10 A’s only to get shunted to the seconds.

Im sure the whole team are mates and im sure they do want to win (who doesn’t) but I cant see how someone whose bin at a school for 1 or 2 years really wants to win to bring glory to the school. This aint their fault but it still stands.

They may win the next five years and it will go down in the history books but NO ONE will EVER respect the school because of it. So all u Hailubury boys stop usin the team to talk urself up cos NO ONE IS LISTENIN!!

I must say that i agree in many places. xavier in the 90's and early 2000's will be remembered as a solid unit that played hard, successful footy. haileybury may win for the next 5 years, but they will only be remembered as an expensive unit that played hard, heartless footy and on paper shouldnt have lost games, which they already have (most notably to grammar last year). It is a shame that teams winning the aps footy premiership these days arent full of kids that loved doing it for their school like they used to prior to haileyburys shopping spree, but it is undeniable, regardless of what any ags idiot says on this site, that many aps schools (with haileybury at the top) are significantly better than any other in victoria and australia for that matter

the following article makes for interesting reading , taken from the age in march last year , draw your own conclusions but haileybury are saying one thing and obviously doing the other:

Guidelines accepted by leading schools reject offering scholarships to win sporting kudos.
Leading private schools have said they will not poach students for their sporting ability, saying it is unfair to recruit athletes for competition success.
Some schools, including Melbourne Grammar and Haileybury College, this month adopted guidelines ruling out scholarships based on "sporting prowess".
The schools have agreed that it is "neither fair nor appropriate" to offer scholarships to senior students to win premierships or gain dominance in particular sports.
The move by the Associated Public Schools of Victoria - a competitive sporting group of 11 schools - comes after allegations emerged last year that some private schools were poaching top students from the Catholic sector.
Michael Urwin, chairman of the APS Heads Association, acknowledged that there had been public speculation for many years, and said he hoped the guidelines would "get rid of all that innuendo".

"I think this statement to our communities helps affirm that we don't believe poaching - if we use that term - is appropriate," Mr Urwin said. "We want to run a credible and fair competition."
The other APS schools are Brighton Grammar, Carey Grammar, Caulfield Grammar, Geelong Grammar, Scotch College, St Kevin's College, Geelong College, Wesley College and Xavier College.
It is believed to be the first time in Victoria that a group of non-government schools has produced a set of specific guidelines to tackle the issue of scholarships where sporting expertise is a criterion.
The Age reported last year on claims by the principal of St Bede's College, Mentone, that Haileybury had offered scholarships to some of its best sports performers.
At the time, Haileybury's vice-principal said the school was always interested in finding new talent, but that it was often the parents who made "unsolicited applications".
The principal of Essendon's St Bernard's College, Frank FitzGerald, said there had been a "bidding war" for his students in recent years.
He said the latest case involved a year 8 student and top athlete who received unsolicited phone calls during the summer holidays from a coach offering a scholarship for Caulfield Grammar. A spokesman for that school said it "absolutely denies" the allegation.
Vin Feeney, president of the Principals Association of Victorian Catholic Secondary Schools, recalled one poaching attempt two years ago in which a student was approached in the change rooms after an athletics carnival by a teacher from a prominent eastern suburbs school offering a scholarship.
Mr Feeney said cherry-picking students was "unconscionable behaviour".
The president of the Victorian Association of Secondary School Principals, Andrew Blair, said the guidelines were "a step in the right direction".

No surprises there. st bedes kids are always saying about how haileybury take all their talent, and no doubt the aths incidents were caulfield grammar

You pathetic little nimrod private school kids just dont get it. All of your schools offer scholarships to kids that have great sporting talent in order to make their teams better. Whether Hailebury of 20, MGS offer 10 or someone else offers one it makes no difference. Your schools are all equally as evil. So everyone stop just bagging Hailebury and have a look in your back yard.

Its like saying that someone that has killed 10 people is not as bad as a person that has killed 20.

You guys should take note of the crap you write on here and read it back in 10 years, hopefully then your expensive education would have educated you and you may then realise your childish ways.

Couldn't agree more. It's about time people start focusing on the good players that play APS instead of how they got there. It's great to watch good players regardless of which school they come from. Nothing worse than listening to people making excusses or blaming someone else. Lets get over it.
