I have some info but not for here. Ruff and TL
Pick 3 in this draft is strong currency - if they are effectively happy to deal it they should have been in the ear and offering a ridiculous amount of money to the likes of Ollie Wines, that’s the type of player they should give up pick 3 for, not veteran leadership.

Otherwise you go to the draft with picks 2 and 3 and target the leadership by other means - i.e. bring in McVeigh and Whitecross as FA’s, trade late picks like the Hodge/Mitchell deals while still bringing in the elite young talent.

GC have lost the plot if they are giving away pick 3 to “save face” (that’s a misguided perception), or to bring in anything other than elite talent entering their prime.

100% agreed

After giving up pick 2 for Lachie Weller, if they give up pick 3 to make a stand, then I think the AFL should be seriously questioning Cockstains credentials to run and AFL club.

Hypothetically and with hindsight.
If the Hawks had pick three in 2009 and they had to use it to get Burgoyne would you still go for Burgoyne or would you take Dustin Martin?

It is cockring. Old school vindictive mindset, screw yourself more, by screwing those, that you think are screwing you, which then results in a screwed up situation for everyone involved, due to some screwed up individual, that puts his screwed up inferiority complex before his his screwed up club, that when players are offered to go there, they will say screw that, i ain’t going there. Which then results in them getting drafteee’s , who’s dreams are screwed, when it’s announced they have to go to the screwed up place. Once their contract is up, and there heads are all screwed up, as feel, they been royally screwed, either quit the game to escape their screwed up situation, or hope, to screw someone else, to take over their screwed up place. All the while Cockring in his screwed up narcissistic obsession, keeps whinging, how other clubs screw him over, by taking his screwed up players, which he himself has screwed, because of his screwed up beliefs in not being screwed over!

Probably still go Burgoyne for Hawthorn at that time, but I’m not sure Hawthorn 09 and GC 18 are comparable (we won a flag 12 months earlier, had a team with Hodge, Mitchell, Franklin, Roughead,Rioli etc entering their prime, and Clarkson at the helm!)

GC 18 are probably more like Hawthorn 04 - which is probably a similar draft to what this one is projecting as. If we could have traded pick 2 for Nigel Lappin at the end of 04 or taken Roughead in the draft what would you have done in hindsight?

Burgers any day. What we needed at the time, experience, reliability, and able to play the team game. Without Burgers, I’m doubtful of the 3peat, Clarko would have been long replaced. Dusty and Buddy in the same team, it would have been the blind leading the blind. We definitely imo needed that older head, over another over the top extrovert in that period.

Seriously though, Cockring would have zero input into the decision making process of the footy dept. If he does then they're doomed.

For 08 we had both experienced leadership and early draft picks.
We lost a lot of leadership and it took until the trading in of Gibson, Hale, Burgoyne, Lake and McEvoy as role players to support the early draft picks of Hodge, Lewis, Franklin, Roughead, Rioli and Birchall for the success to return.

It's easy.
All you need is Rough.
But using hindsight the benefits of Jack Russell on Nigel Lappin would of looked a bit like this. images.jpg

Probably Burgoyne as it was a better fit with our age demographic at the time, Martin seemed to really boom as a player after our peak.

A dream you dream alone is only a dream.
A dream you dream together is reality.

That's phenomenal if true. Imagine Kennett poking his head into the footy dept meeting and demanding a certain trade strategy for a player. He'd be dragged out by his brown and gold shoes!

And that is what separates Gold Coast and the rest of the comp.

One of the conditions for Dougie to take the GC role, was the level of interference from Cochrane.

The GC can do better taking the compo, trading it if they wish, REGARDLESS of whether it is us or the Tigs. They already know what the compo is likely to be. They are canvassing with each of the courting clubs.

Don’t forget, unlike JOM, TL is uncontracted.

More coin it is!! It’s not as if hawthorn are a small irrelevant club that doesn’t know how to be successful in a short space of time! Lynch and two picks inside Top 30 will improve our talent profile no end.

It’s significantly more coin.

The scene is set for an intriguing couple of months.

‘They’ll offer Collingwood’ - what a flag every 20 years?
