Premierships alone are hard to win, everything has to go right at crucial moments during the season. The competition is so tight now aswell.

Yes, i think the same was being said after the Lions 3peat.

Yes, and perhaps very soon, have you seen the first round picks running around in the GWS reserves team? They'll be able to ride the current wave for some time by trading away players who want to go home for further early picks, so will be rejuvenating their list as they go (not that they need to right now).

Hoping the doggies can grab one flag before the juggernaut reaches full strength (this year might be their only chance, despite the improvement left in the young doggies list).

If the afl moved the grand final from strictly being at the G to all over the country would that play a part?

Logistically the GF has to be locked in months in advance. (Unfortunately) there is just too much involved in it (corporate responsibilities, hotels, entertainment) for the location of it to be decided the week before hand.

Also, imagine a WA team making it three years in a row but having to play in Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane, where they may only play once a year. It could even work out where the Eagles (for example) have not played on the SCG that season because the one trip they made to Sydney saw them playing the Giants at their home ground. At least they'll get more opportunity to play on the 'G as the game currently stands.

Apart from the lions, you could make a case for all teams having a chance of making finals next year. You only have to look at the bottom 4 teams, 3 of which Frem, Ess & GC should all finish higher next year.
With a far more even competition, the chances of a 3peat, let alone a back2back will get much harder.

GWS and Bulldogs will be quite capable, maybe even the Demons in a couple of years? Any of these teams could start a new era of dominance. GWS have an abundance of talent currently, how they keep them altogether is the next trick. They lost Boyd last year and McCarthy and Treloar this year, yet will play a home Preliminary final next week starting as favourites!

The Lions 3-peat wasn't supposed to happen because of "equalisation" and neither was Hawthorns for the same reason. Theoretically one could count Geelong's 3 recent flags as a more spread out three peat, and one could also argue they shouldn't have been so dominant because of "equalisation".

All of the above teams have been freakishly awesome and talented during their eras of dominance and even when they have been having a down period they weren't even that bad - see Geelong in particular. Brisbane being the exception as they haven't done much since the 2004 GF loss bar one or two finals.

I do think we will see it again and while I'm not a fan of Hawthorn I admire them for what they have done and wouldn't have an issue seeing another team do it as well.
