Is this kid really that good? the kid has tremendous talent and mobility for someone who has played the game for only 7 months. He is the son of a former rugby star. Willams has transfered to footy from rugby at the start of the year. Is he worth the risk of a top 10 draft pick??

He is an exciting prospect and whilst on current form he is not a number 6 selection, his overall potential must have a number of clubs willing to take him with a 1st round selection.
Pick 6 is possibly too high but it wouldn't completely surprise.

pick 9 or above. there about 7-8 guys that deserve to be ahead of him at this stage. after those guys have fallen its basically a blind lottery.

If you were looking for a KPP Player at 6 and Roughhead and Franklin are gone, who would you pick?

Other players like Wood, Monfries may have claims to 6 but we want a KPP.
In that scenario, Williams is not such a surprise. He is quicker, fitter and has a better leap than Willets, is taller and stronger and more physical than Kirkby, Grundy and Bate.
He has shown good football ability in his game for the allies.

Whichever tall we take be it Murphy, Willets, Grundy etc will need a couple years anyway. With two more years of football, Williams may learn enough to already be a better player than those guys just when their senior careers start.

The bulldogs should remember the last time they got desperate for a tall and paid above the odds (T.Walsh)

Walsh has been very disappointing and would want to improve an awful lot in the next year, but he was bottom age when drafted and missed most of his first year. In the long run, he should still have a fair bit to offer. At the moment, however, you'd think that there were better options available.

Tom Williams has had some good raps about him. A comparison to Jonathon Brown by some doesn't hurt his chances of early selection. Still a very rough selection to be bringing up the draft order if there is some uncertainty about him.

I'm not sure who made that comparison but I'd say it's a very bad one.
Whilst I am a rap for Williams he is essentially a KPP that has never really been tested playing as in a key position. Brown on the other hand was already an imposing KPP as a junior.
I'm not sure who would be a good comparison for Williams, perhaps someone like Kepler Bradley, but he is an intriguing prospect because of his athletic potential.
If the Dog's did select him at 6, they would be paying over the odds on current form but it could also be a very rewarding long term investment.
