Social media gives a megaphone to literally any idiot on the face of the earth with access to an internet connection, often under the cover of anonymity. The fact is in a football supporting public of millions you are going to get the odd idiot using this megaphone for purposes such as these. I'm not convinced calling it out and drawing attention to it is worthwhile. It will never stop.
Yep. Some sad pathetic loser desperate for attention decided to racially abuse Junior, and we're giving him that attention. Why?

If we must draw attention to it, name the campaigner. Let him walk into work tomorrow with that headline hanging over him. Drawing attention to the behaviour without naming and shaming the perpetrator is the worst of both worlds. He gets the attention he wants, but with no consequences.

Careless: yes. High: obviously. But severe impact? That’s a load of horse shit.

Ridley didn’t look groggy or anything walking off the ground, and there doesn’t seem to have been any firm confirmation of the extent of his concussion/injury.

Port needs to demand medical reports here, because this smells very much like a concussion that will be serious until the minute the tribunal hearing is finished.

Lmao, 7 going with the comments only came because of the bump.
Seriously?

This is the equivalent of "she was asking for it because of what she wore" and they should be hung drawn and quartered if that's legit the angle they went with.

From the PAFC homepage...

PORT ADELAIDE forward Junior Rioli has been sent directly to the tribunal over an incident in the club’s win over Essendon on Sunday.

The Match Review Officer cited Rioli for striking Essendon’s Jordan Ridley in the second quarter of the five-point win.

Ridley was subbed out of the game with the Bombers later confirming he had been concussed.

The MRO has assessed the incident as carelsss conduct with severe impact and high contact.

The initial suggested penalty is a suspension for three or more games, which means Rioli is unable to enter an early guilty plea and will have to face the tribunal on Tuesday evening. Rioli’s teammate Connor Rozee was also fined $4000 for a third offence of making careless contact with an umpire. With an early plea the fine will be reduced to $2500.

What the actual ****.

Copped that port Byron Pickett tax ..

Lol ****ing scum competition

So is there a rule that says "If you choose to shepherd/block and catch a player high you will face charges"

I am all for protecting the head and the "If you choose to bump and hit a player high you will face charges" but this seems more like a footy accident. There is no way Rioli planned to take Jordan Ridley high.

Do you get rubbed out if you legitimately fly high in a pack for mark and concuss a player because you knee inadvertently hits them in the back of the head?

We must challenge the ban

Rioli deserves a ban, even a 2-3 week ban to be honest, but the problem is there will be no
Consistent application of this penalty. Just look at Buddy getting one week early in the season for something quite similar.

Van rooyen tries to decapitate a guy faking a spoil, 2 matches.

No one even knows how Rioli's contact resulted in a concussion, straight to tribunal, 3 matches.
