Horrific.

A tragic case of mistaken identity could be behind a deadly arson attack that claimed the life of a young woman who was house sitting for her brother while he was on his honeymoon.

The 27-year-old was trapped inside a three-storey townhouse at Dover Street in Truganina in Melbourne’s west as it went up in flames about 2.30am on Thursday.

The Hoppers Crossing woman called emergency services to raise the alarm, however she did not survive.

Happens easily these days. Crime groups have no shortage of teen gang members who will happily commit what are very serious crimes for a few hundred dollars.

Of course, you get what you pay for - idiots who’ll target the wrong agrees, blow their own hands off, etc. But those contracting them don’t care.

Have heard that it was mistaken identity, not in that it was the wrong house but in that the brother on his honeymoon was the intended target.

I reckon at least half of the time someone hires muscle or loose idiots to kill someone or torch their house, they end up killing the wrong person and at the wrong address.

You’re not wrong and it often evokes memories of the tragic and unsolved murder of Jane Thurgood-Dove.

First up the police said wrong address but that might have been incorrect.

If they are confident it was mistaken identity you’d hope that’s because they have an insight into who the real target was and why.

I hope they have a pretty good idea who they are. This one cannot go unpunished.

Couldn’t agree more, I hope this is solved really quickly.
