Suns are no chance for the spoon, Brisbane winning 3 of their last 4 plus the other sides overtaking GC as well just isn't going to happen.
Very true, was confident in the Suns being chances in their next 3, Fremantle, Brisbane and Essendon (H), but with their injury list it is very unlikely

Pretty sure that's why we play footy right?

Giving up arms and legs now will not see you with a new pair over the next 10 years. Geelong's blueprint looks to not involve seeing future sustained success but more-so 'hurry and give up everything you've got to win one now'. The short-term patches method is what has damaged my club to the point where a proper rebuild needed to take place. What if it doesn't end up working and no flag is seen?

Concerned to think what will happen once players like Hawkins, Selwood, Taylor and Lonergan finish up. The kids look alright, but none so far look to have the strength to keep Geelong up on its feet. If the cats continue going about their business this way, you may experience conditions similar to that of us in the not-too-distant future. We'll be left to feel empathic.

Same thing happened at the lions - Fev was an absolute disaster and in hindsight we were no chance.

Put the cue in the rack to move up the draft order.

Not saying we're tanking, but...

Last year Carlton was 6-5 and then only won one more match.

This year 5-7 and then staring at 0-1 more wins.

Half of me thinks it's cue in the rack.

The other half thinks our midfield is simply too poor to cover a missing Murphy (2016) or Cripps (2017). Plus we're playing lots of kids, that run out of puff late in the season.

Bit of a myth since the GH5 in 2013. Since then we've retained every player we wanted to except James Aish. And that turned out well for us.
Strange comment by an Adelaide supporter as well. I would say they have lost a lot better and more important players than we have done over the past 5 or so years. Look like they could lose 1-2 this year as well.

We only have a few players left from our premiership years, we've lost Ablett Scarlett Bartel Ling Harley Wojo Rooke Enright Corey Ottens and a shit load more and have managed to reload for another crack. Going by our record over the last 10 years I reckon we know what we're doing, we've also blooded the most debutaunts in the comp this year. Don't be concerned, we're all good for at least another 5 years of finals footy.

The last time 5 wins got you a Spoon is the last time we got the Spoon in 1998. Only 3 in 30 years. If results go a certain way (North win today and Lions beat North next week) then 6 wins could even be a wooden spoon which hasn't happened since Collingwood in 1976.

Very strange position for Carlton - you feel they've massively improved but have fallen down three spots on the ladder since last year and might finish off the bottom only by percentage or so. Could still finish last.
Could say the same for us as well really. Up 2 games and 14% on last year with 2 games to go.

This year hasn't really had a truly terrible team that you just knew would get the wooden spoon from the word go. Normally there is a team with 4 wins or less with a % in the 60's. Brisbane's the closest to that demographic but are still a cut above with 5 wins (with 1 game to go) and a % of 74.
It also doesn't seem that bad for them because they've clearly improved from last year. There is one stat in particular which shows Brisbane is miles better than last year: At the end of last year (22 rounds) they had conceded 2,872 points against. This year (21 rounds) they have conceded 2,292 points against. So they are probably going to be at least 400 points better defensively over the season (if not more).

I honestly reckon the bottom teams this year - are the kind of teams that would normally finish bottom 4 but are probably a bit better than the teams than that would normally get the spoon. Obviously though someone will still win it but I think whichever team gets it will have a few more positives to take out of the season than is normally the case.

Brisbane was that team, for half of the season, but they've picked up,some steam since the bye.
