Leaving aside the Canadian "home team" selection bias I am not sure how Min Woo got picked ahead of Davis on 2024 form?
personality 600k insta vs non personality 15.6k insta?

but really should go be on position unless there is special reason,( if you get sick, you ranking gets frozen like tennis ?)

Marketing.
The Cook better hope that gets him a few sponsor invites into the Signature Events. Right now he is looking down the barrel of wallowing in the second tier.

If that's the case, they should start picking Youtubers!

It's been the same each time they have used this terrible system - winner gets a two shot lead, etc.

You seriously couldn't design something more likely to produce a snoozefest. All it promotes is viewers hoping that the best player of the year plays badly so we get a close finish.

What's just as weird is that OWGR points for this week were awarded on the gross scores - so Sahith earned the most points.

One highlight was A. Scott's late season form. By making it to the final, he is exempt into the US Open, which means he will be exempt into at least the next 5 majors. Barring a complete disaster of a 2025 season, his schedule should see him continue to earn points to protect his ranking into the 26 season. Quite an extraordinary achievement if he gets to 100 straight majors.
Maybe give a US$15m bonus for being the top player on the PGA Tour for the season.
Top 50 players then play in an event which sees the bottom 20 drop out.
The second event sees the bottom 15 drop out leaving the top 15 to play for keeps.

There's so many more preferable options. Agree with the season long payout and a season-finishing competition. 64 player medal event week 1, then 32 seeded qualifiers into a 5 round match play would be awesome - but I don't think broadcasters want it

Sunday Knockout final, 3rd v 4th, 5th v 6th, 7th v 8th - Even the 7 v 8 match would be playing for $500k. No small amount even for these guys.

Tiger Woods has way too much influence on professional golf imo

Sure he is the reason why the sport can generate so much cash these days but being a good golfer doesnt mean you're qualified for making decisions on what's best for the future of pro golf.
If I was one of the participants I would bring along a Navy SEAL who could tell a few war stories and then convince Tiger to voting my way.

Jason Day back in Aus for a golf tournament. Woweeee

Be interesting to see whether Day, Scott, etc. make it to the Open. Hope so.

Irish Open tonight at Royal County Down. Will be worth a watch.

Booked a tee time at Royal County Down earlier in the week. Northern Irish people are very difficult to understand over the phone when they speak quickly.

It’s fantastic to see a tournament played at an absolutely magnificent golf course

Day, Scott, Smith - all out for the Aus Open I believe. Should be quite the tourney that one....

Believe Scott not planning to play any Aus events this summer.

Herbert apparently playing NSW Open with Smith.

Put it a week before the LIV event in Adelaide and they will get the strongest field ever for an open.
