Would love to see Eddie P go on with it. His insights on The Chipping Forecast are awesome. He shares his pain.

And he has his wife, Top Ten Jen, on the bag. She knows nothing about golf.

Yeah like quite a few tournaments this year have been won by guys with either no form or just producing the goods for that tournament so with who's up there he's one of many players who could find a spark again. Jen works as a holistic health coach after going through her own health battles, has a Masters Law Degree, she's actually a very smart young woman, they have been together since she was 16, its great to see, there should be more of it. I wouldn't be upset if Eddie won that's for sure.

I don't see it that way at all, in actual fact the complete opposite, that 2024 in Golf was a in horse racing terms "a baron year for punters" and not just for myself but others I'm sure, my first couple of sentences were quite logical and parlayed an actual account of the golfing year, that including the DP World Tour & the PGA Tour, I would exclude the LPGA Tour because there are so many good players on that tour that won its not funny but like on the other two main tours to a lesser extent you still had some surprise winners but like the "dogs" the "trots" and the "horses" that's always going to happen.

I'm not like that, I might get upset and be very disappointed if my player gets beat in a playoff or if my player throws away a winning lead late in a tournament when he/she has it at his/her mercy but I think that's quite normal but I have no ill feelings if my players play badly or don't live up to my expectations for the chosen tournament, simply put, I made the wrong choices, for that tournament, it happens.

There are two things you can do in life in these circumstances, you can curse like a lot of punters do when their bet {players, horse, dog trot etc fail to win} and carry on like many punters I've seen over the years or you can own it yourself and say its not his/her/ their fault, I'm the one that picked him/her/ them, I made the wrong choice, but of course to the majority of people that bet, that's to easy and its always his/her/the dog, the horse or the trotters fault and never the person that made the bet!

On the golf course I always find it funny when I see a golfer play a very bad shot or make a terrible putt then proceed to throw the ball into the drink, they are the one who played the shot/ made the putt, maybe they should throw themselves into the drink as well! The ball is only reacting to the way its hit, but again its far easier to blame someone/ something else, rather than yourself! I'll refresh my mind over the new year and hope 2025 brings better results than 2024, and that as a punter is all we can ask for. On the flip side if I have a year like this year then I can always throw myself into the drink! :winkv1:

Barren. But I don’t think it was. In the men’s game you had one favourite who dominated. All majors were won by serious players, as were pretty much all the Signature events off the top of my head.

Problem is punting on golf - especially trying to back outright winners - is nigh on impossible. And given the current screwed up nature of the Tours, anything other than Majors, and to a lesser extent, Signature events, have fields that make punting even more of a crap shoot.

If you really did outlay all that dough, you have blown the equivalent of a nice club’s joining fee.

I never worry about it, a wise old man many years ago once told me if your not prepared to lose then don't gamble, the logic behind that saying is very true, and yes I did outlay all that money, but one mustn't live in the past or else you get stuck there, life's okay, no ones died, no serious injuries, its also true to an extent that the last couple of years getting a golf winner has been harder, winning money was never meant to be easy, any way you slice it.
