In enjoyed this post until you got to here. At which point i decided that the thought of hearing Bublé do anything made me want to grab a cotton bud and poke my ear drums until they bled.

To steal a quote from another review; Bubble is hype not hip.

Spot on.. again! Empty, souless machine like cover of a song that was full of balls and soul.

Oh hang on..empty, souless and machine like pretty much describes DEVO all round;)

Exactly. That was the point DEVO was making when the covered a classic revered on both sides of the Atlantic. Western Society had turned into a empty, souless comsumer machine. We are witness to the DEVOlution of Western Society, and George W. Bush is proof that they were right.:)

Personal I think the they failed, the song is far from empty, has soul and is far from embarrassing. And Boogie Boy mix is even better.

Are We not Men
We are DEVO

Can't knock Otis. The Man is a legend. Did he every sing a bad song??

Funnilly enough, that episode was on Fox the othernight. I'd kept wondering over the past few months why I couldn't stand DEVO. Needless to say, not anymore.

Further proof of the DEVOlution of Western Society. A mainstreamer who can't think and appreciate the obscure, imaginative or lateral thinkers outside his little box.:D

Daft Punk's cover of 'Take Me Out' by Franz Ferdinand. They did stuff all to it except add a bit of distortion!

I wouldn't have known it was a remix if I didn't hear the back-announce

Ha! I'd rather listen to Kraftwork. At least they had an excuse.

terrible covers:

the beatles 'how do you do' (gerry and the pacemakers own that song)
the one of del shannon's 'runaway'
jessica simpsons 'take my breath away'
hilary duff's 'our lips are sealed'

if you ask me i think hilary duff should have chosen a different belinda carlisle song - maybe 'heaven is a place on earth' - would have had a great deal more success!

Oh FU(K:eek:

Im slightly afraid.

Some mention on this thread of a butchered Robbie Williams' song. However, Robbie is himself responsible for at least one very lame attempt at a cover. His version of 'She's The One' sounds like wet spaghetti when compared to the soulful original version by World Party.

Original: "She Bangs - Ricky Martin"

Cover: "She Bangs - William Hung"

I don't know which one is worse. But either way, shocking.

Just heard today Scissor Sisters version of Pink Floyd's Classic Comfortably Numb and i have to say it is the worst piece of disrespectful garbage i have ever heard.

I wanted to do that during the closing credits of Spiderman 2 last night after hearing his horrid version of the Spiderman theme.
