I was told of a young guy from Macedon FC who last weekend broke his leg, his shin bone and had a total dislocation of his ankle in thier game against Romsey.
What are the worst injuries people have seen on a football field, this would have to be pretty close to as bad as an injury on field could get...

when i was playing under 17s about 3 years ago one of my mates dislocated his hip when he got tackled. he was lying on his back and his legs were pointing at 90 degrees out from his body

Then dont contribute.. Fool...

Mate I'm no fool. Threads like this make no sense. Football has many positives but you my friend dwell on negatives. It shows that you know very little about the game and real issues. get a life..... and stop getting your thrills over other peoples misfortunes.

Shows that I know nothing about Football??? Interesting comment, injuries are a natural part of the game, learning of these injuries and possible ways of combating them are probably the more intelligent thing to do, rather than turning away and pretending that they are not happening.. Im not celebrating the injuries, merely showing what injuries can occur.. And hopefully exposing a probable cause to some that we could, further down the track, have the ability to expose and avoid.. But you can just close this thread, close your mind, and pretend that the big bad bogey man isn't in the closet.. Up to you... Have a nice day... :thumbsu:

Former teammate broke a leg a few years ago. Compound fracture, with the bone sticking out through his calf muscle with pieces of bone broken away. Trainers walking the oval looking for the pieces of bone so that they could be taken to hospital. Was very ordinary

gee big turn around mate u have a crack and wen everyone doesnt like what u sed u all of a sudden change what u think.

the worst i seen was an assistant coach slid into the corner of a fence sign and it cut through his skin and a quarter of his knee cap was cut off. they had to stop the game and look for it most disgusting thing i have seen. but surprisingly he didnt realise what he had done and took his free kick before looking at his knee and then managed to jog off the ground. the best way to prevent tis is for clubs to realise how dangerous these signs are and do something to make them less sharp.
sorry bout the essay :)

Many bone injuries are caused by the hardness of the ground... what could be done to prevent? get council to agree to let the clubs use water to make it softer!!! thats the only way (from that standpoint)

Ive seen the ultimate happen on a footy field, and its not a good sight, anything that can be done to prevent this, SHOULD be done... as far as the worst possible injuy goes, Cracked skull (ala James Hird) would have to be the worst possible

Yeah it was bad, he is a good player too. Thats the third broken leg for the club this year.

Ive herd stories of a guy in the edfl doing his hip, and it makes you cringe.

A few years ago i saw a guy have his eye poked out. It actually split in half! Not naming names, however this person was one of the toughest (stupid) people i have ever seen play. The good, or stupid or mad thing was that he came back to play the next season wearing squash goggles. He later went on to Captain Coach a first grade side in a good competition. I believe he is still playing in Country Victoria.
