Worst stadium you have ever been to watch the footy and why?

You're an idiot.

Try Adelaide and then, especially, Perth. Subiaco Oval's best viewing points are probably on par with Etihad's absolute worst. Then you pay $40 to see Freo play GWS. Then there's the packed transport. And the legroom that gives anyone 6"0' or over pins and needles by the end of the first quarter. And then the fact it's basically too old and quite obviously run down. It should've been replaced ten years ago because it's so, so far behind the rest of the competition. Etihad is clean, central, the seats are new, the signage is good, the gates nice and open and easy to find, the tickets cheaper, the view great...

Going to Etihad is perfect. Not much else you could ask for in a stadium. The MCG is a cut above, but you can't have two of those and you definitely can't build the atmosphere and grandiosity of the 'G with cranes and concrete.

Dislike aami and subi but at least they feel like footy grounds
Anz is the worst for me, footy and soccer.. Access good but that's about it

Waverley was terrible but I only went a few times as a kid and i enjoyed it cos for me it was a big day trip, I'd hate it now though.
Actually drove past a few weeks ago and am staggered at how close it is to the cbd these days

i've made 2 trips over to subi. The first time i went i was amazed the place hadn't been condemned and if you are over 6 foot like me you are in for a world of pain

Subi is woeful. The worst out of the major AFL grounds.

Ive read alot of WA people say this, but why? I went there once to see Bris v Freo and had a decent seat, could see the game alright, got there by train which by memory (which isnt perfect, had a couple of frothies) was within walking distance.

So why exactly is it so bad?

Princes Park last week. The Carlton money is definitely not for ground up keep.

I like Princes Park, but good luck trying to get out of the car park. Went a few years ago when Fev played for Brisbane, was silly enough to stay until the end, took over an hour to get out of the car park, even though the crowd was about 7 or 8 thousand. As far as watching the game though, I miss the surburban feel and I like sitting on the old seats. Would need a serious upgrade if they were to ever play AFL there in the future though,.

Some parts of the ground are good. The 3 tier stand is woeful for sitting room and amenities.

TIO Stadium, pretty much nothing there, small grandstand on one side that seats about 10000, one bar/ canteen to get food for the whole grandstand, and for those who are complaining about the facilities at other grounds, you obviously have never been to TIO
That's not a stadium. Marrara is a country ground that happens to host the odd AFL match.

I was at Subi for the Derby on Saturday. Sitting behind the city end goals, looking directly into the sun while being squashed by a bloke who resembled a dump truck on one side and my poor sister on the other. Not to mention spending $36 on Bundy then the long-ish walk back to Leederville.

But it's the only AFL venue I know that sells Steak Sandwiches and beer that isn't served in cups. Plus it's about the only venue I've gone to in July where I haven't worn any winter clothing.

Worst of all time Lakeside Oval - facilities were terrible to non-existent

Worst of current crop - Subi, it reminds me of the things that were wrong with Waverley, only problem is you don't even get the leg room you got at waverley. Really want to see the new stadium built sooner rather than later.

Dishonourable mention - AAMI, what is it with the aluminum seats, it's cold enough in the middle of winter but sitting on cold metal makes it worse. Did the locals use to burn the wooden seats to stay warm or something. Also what's the deal with the drinking rules?

Footy Park hasn't had the aluminium benches for nearly 10 years and the drinking rules were relaxed in 2009.

There was a reason I hadn't been over for a footy game in a decade, will be coming over again though next year when I don't have to travel out to the dump that is West Lakes.

Not to defend AAMI, but do you base all of your opinions on out-of-date information?

Are you talking about the Stadium or the suburb. As West Lakes is a really nice suburb.

It is a stadium, that is why it's called TIO Stadium, have you been there before?

Just because it's called TIO Stadium doesn't make it a stadium. Marrara is just a country oval. Also, no I haven't.

Unley Oval -- Envestra Park now -- is probably the most disliked ground in the SANFL. Only half of the overall ground space outside the playing area is inhabitable, so you can only stand at one goal end. Plus the pitch is a bog when it rains and it usually stinks something chronic when that happens.

Isn't half of it a public park??

The last game i went to was a couple of years ago to subiaco, was given a couple of members seats from work so decided to take my 10 year old brother. Now being 6'4" and about 150kg, sitting on a plank was one of the more uncomfortable experiences i've had, if it werent for my 10 year old brother being built like a twig i couldnt have sit down. Hell it took them years to finally get a decent screen at Subi so it will be years before a reno or the new stadium.

Been to Marrara (TIO) and i quite like it, was a few years ago, balmy night game with good atmosphere, full strength beer and sitting on the grass behind the goals, was a good night.
