What's the difference between:

Yes - I would give it to Cotchin & Mitchell
and
Sadly yes, the integrity of the game comes first before any individual

It's the same bloody option!

Anyway that's what I voted, if it's proven that he took prohibited substances then I can't see how he can keep the Brownlow.

IMO Dank told the truth when he said he discussed the use of supplements with WADA and ASADA. WADA told him to consult his local drug authority ASADA, who told him he could use it under certain conditions. This is why ASADA haven't said boo about AOD and why they told the AGE their case against its use was weak.

Jobe's obvious confidence is telling.
Lance Armstrong was confident for years...

First option is 'no mercy, don't feel for the guy, don't give a stuff, I'm a Richmond supporter and want my Cotchy in the history books'.

Second option is 'I really feel for the guy, but it needs to happen for the good of the game'. The Kevin Sheedy option.

Hey, Trent and Sam...

You will never get this, you will never get this, la-la-la-la-la.

Whether or not he's stripped of the Brownlow it will still have a cloud hanging over it which is a shame for him as he's still a very good player that I don't think intentionally tried to cheat using banned drugs.

An ugly situation all round.

Wow, a thread about Jobe Watson admitting to taking a banned substance and a Hawthorn supporter brings up the Swans and its Cost of living allowance!

The AFL is a business dressed up as a football competition.
We all know that the AFL is compromised, and it is clear that the AFL supporter community on BF has little faith that the AFL will do anything that jepordises their contractual obligations re: TV broadcast rights.
Similarly, the AFL is compromised because they can afford extra concessions to one market, but not equally apply there concessions to the whole competition based on similar logic. No one disputes that the COL in Sydney is higher than in Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide......but by similar logic, the COL is higher in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth than in Adelaide. So why dont these clubs get proportional concessions.
I guess equalisation and fairness are not one in the same.

Sure my views will be biased, but its not poor Jobe's fault is it? Cant punish him for really not doing anything wrong?

Doc: Hey Jobe sign this so we can inject you with this new AOD..
JW: Anti-Obesity Drug? What does it do? *reads form* Ah righteo.. sounds good, you're definitely sure its not illegal though right?
Doc: Lol.. erm, yer its definitely not.. yet.
JW: Excuse me?
Doc: Nothing dont worry about it, god Riemers didnt even read the damn forms! Just sign it FFS.

Who's to say Jobe wouldnt have won it if he didnt get injected with it?

I've tried to avoid these kinds of threads over the past few months. But AOD-9604 is banned, correct? Like it or not Essendon fans, Jobe Watson took a banned substance, performance enhancing or not. I find it hard to see how the AFL/ASADA,etc won't let this go unpunished.

Because no matter what agreements it has with WADA and ASADA - and it's own rules - the AFL will make a determination that will least damage "the brand". Just like the Melbourne tanking issue, this will all be brushed under the carpet.

This was a kid who couldn't kick a ball properly and became an elite ball user. Drugs can't do that.

I completely agree with this point, and honestly believe that the substance wouldn't have been what pushed him above everyone else. That being said however, you can't have a brownlow medalist who was on banned substances the year he won. You just can't.

"Hey here is this gun - pull the trigger."
"OK sure what does it do?"
"Nothing you'll be fine"

Guy drops dead... see where I'm going with this. It sucks and it's terribly unlucky for Watson.

BUT BUT BUT INTEGRITY!! COTCHIN MITCHELL BROWNLOW MEDAL INTEGRITY JOBE TOOK BANNED SUBSTANCES!!11!

Yes, you've summed it up right there. I'm not here to voice my want for the returning of Cotchin and Mitchell's Brownlow, I'm here because at the end of the day he has TAKEN BANNED SUBSTANCES, RUINED HIS INTEGRITY AND THAT OF THE GAME, GIVEN HIMSELF AN UNFAIR ADVANTAGE AND BROUGHT THE GAME INTO DISREPUTE, unfortunately for him unwillingly or not does not change that. ASADA themselves have stated that ignorance is not an excuse. The fact you deny that is utterly embarrassing.
