Re: WRFL Div. 2 Season 2008 and Beyond Part 2

I dont write on div 2 too much but I had to say something to this. He has been a very good player wherever he has played and has never shirked an issue. I played with him at Williamstown and you dont play senior VFL footy or AFL footy for that matter if you are soft. I know you will throw up names as you did and the likes of Craig Bradley, Scott Camporeale and whoever else, but when the ball was in front of them, they never got out the way for anybody. He isnt the sort of guy that will belt you or is intimidating but he goes when its his turn to go. You are entitled to your opinion but he isnt soft. Im sure most in div 2 would like to be half the player he is, even if it meant them being as 'SOFT' as Nathan.

Beazer, gret post mate, You not a bad player yourself.;)

People who come on here and bag Nathan are the BINS of a club, go to training and see how much senior coaches put in and you will realise how hard there work is.

Actually drove past Parkside training and there was about 50 on the track, couple of 6' 3 players and a very fit looking team.

Grass cover is very good and will be right for RD 1.

Re: WRFL Div. 2 Season 2008 and Beyond Part 2

now to all those that dont already know yes it is true that we have signed Laurie Angwin for 09 at the vales. we signed him a few weeks ago and he has been down and trained and is fitting in very well. he will be a handy inclusion into our side and also for the league. it is also a very good chance for alot of opposition players to really chance their luck with somneone who is a top 10 draft pick and still young enough for them to claim that they played om him in his prime. he is going to be a great leader around the club and we as a club are very impressed with his maturity and commitment towards the club our future and helping build our young side for the future. hope this is good news to all in div 2.

Afternoon All

Hopefully we are able to keep this thread open and not have it closed on us due to needless banter and back and forth dribble.
Alot of talk about Nathan Juegan and his so called lack of fitness and his apparent falling out with some senoir players..........i think all clubs should take note that if it does not come directly from a person directly involved it is not fair to comment, as a senior Parkside player i can tell you now that he is going along just fine.....and has the respect from all the playing group......i have been playing senior footy for 19 years and i have never met anyone as passionate about the game than him.......as a word he is only getting spurred on by the rubbish on here and those that know him will only see the best of him this year.....on another note....we had 50 or so at training last night and all were in harmony.........the club is as one as our direction this year is adament.........so lets just talk footy on here and stop the nit picking and rubbish that has had the other closed.......

cheers

Good Post. :thumbsu:

I was one who asked about Nathans Fitness and was in no way bagging the bloke just a genreal question. I think it is a valid and respectable post to ask he fellow players who regualrly post on big footy if he has got himself fit this season.

Thats not a personal attack as some people percive and people get all defensive and respond in an innapropriate way.

I agree lets keep the posting about footy but there is nothing wrong in my view about posting a question about a very important players fitness.

I agree footy should be the topic on here and not personal potting.

here is one for everyone on here.. bit of a different question but which club has the best jumpers and who has the worst ??? haha something a little different.

my vote is for :

Best : Coburgs new alternate strip looks awesome.
Worst : sorry evo but your strip is awful. :thumbsu: haha

Good call Mint.. Coburgs alternate jumper is awesome.
The worst jumper has to be parkside.. Anything that looks like collingwood has to be terrible.:thumbsu:

Best : I agree Mint i think both of Coburgs jumpers come up alright but the new alternate strip does look the goods:thumbsu:

Worst : And i agree on this one to mint my man Falcons strip does look horrid not a fan at all

Another question a bit different from ladder predictions and Premiers predictions .... and i know its early on but who do people think will win the league b n f this yr and who do people think will be leading goal kicker ???

I think the bnf is a tough one to choose with some very good players coming into the league now ....

I think the leading goal kicker will be a two horse race between Patty Davis and bigfootys own Cain Mansbridge ....im thinking if both of these boys stay injury free we could see them both up around 100 goals for the yr ...

On the league medal ?? anyones guess but if Kennedy can keep the form he had last yr i could see him maybe going back to back ......:thumbsu:

Round 1 Coburg vs Laverton will be a good match up with Kennedy and Broad going head to head ...and also Brad kite from Glenroy changing in the ruck Kennedy might have his hands full ..will be a super contest .....Broad has been training the house down during pre-seaon and is super fit and strong after his first season back last yr after 2 yrs out of footy !!

Leading goal kicker cant go past patty davis, roughie could be laurie angwin League b n f is very tough call so will pick a couple of chances Phillips (nth foots) kennedy (lavo) dennely (wynd)

Will be interesting to see how Angwin goes down forward with the falcons as i dont think the delivery up to him will be very good ......and just the fact that they actually have to get it down there to start with ...

Yarraville/Seddon new merger jumper is pretty ordianry i must admit. Vales jumper is also ugly.

Patty Davis will win leading goal kicking medal(if he stays injury free), i wont be in the race as i will play forward back and middle through out the year and Patty doesnt venture far from the square.

We play an Intraclub this monday, when are clubs playing practice games and who has been playing well?

SEDAT SIR to win the comp medal by a country mile providing he stays injury free

Thats a fair call, i just think if they get the ball in his area he is always goin 2 b a huge chance of getting it in his hands

Oh for sure he is and could well dominate a few games as well .....but if the delivery is poor and hes not taking marks out on a lead i think when the ball hits the deck teams will have a much better chance of limiting the damage he can do ........

I think the best bet for the Falcons would be to bomb it in long and high and let him try to take some big grabs ......

It will also be interesting to see how long he actually stays down forward because i have a feeling he will be quickly moved up the ground ...

yeah the roadrunners are not that attractive.. but better than the vales..

No offence to evo and the falcons but he will struggle big time there. unless he takes the ruck ...taps it to himself... kicks long and marks his own ball and has a shot from 50.. he will struggle. you need support around you it doesnt matter who you are!

I think that if patty stays fit all year no one will come close to him in goal kicking.. B&f is way to hard to predict. you never know what can happen and who stands out to the umpires..

Keep banging the drums for rain! If we don't have a few solid rainfalls in the next 2-3 weeks it might be a delay to the season.

There is no reason the league cont push back the season 2-3 weeks, playing rd 1 then having the week off for easter is stupid anyway, most comps are starting on the 18th of april

The season will NOT be delayed. End of story.
I can confirm that.

was goin past albanvale ground 2nite and saw the boys training so popped in for a squiz for 15min, had around 25 on the track, seemed 2 b alittle flat but probably wasnt the best nite for it, the boys do look fit tho

I have a family member at the club?? Anyhow I have only said good things about Angwin and the Vales signing him this season. Don't really care either what he would be on to be honest, only what I am or aint getting. Think it's fantastic for not only the club but for the league in general to have some former AFL talent in it. Most ex AFLers shake the league off for better money in better leagues like the EDFL for example. But now we have a few running around in the WRFL its great for all.

Only assume Wyndhamvale would have to pay up a little bit for his signature as I'm sure anyone would assume. And I have no idea at all what type of bloke he is, none at all. But you would think his experiance and leadership would be invaluable, as I said. True?

I have a few friends who play at the club who I speak to now and again. And wish the best for the Falcons this year and really see them coming good this season with all the young blokes, with or without Angwin.

On a side topic.....I like the Vales kit, Original jumper and original colours. Better than a few basic ones, ie Braybrook, Nth Sunshine, Parkside etc.
