Bad news... I have a growth (read tumour) on my pituitary gland as suspected... the good news, it can be removed and it's only 7mm at this point in time.

Bad news also is... I have to have brain surgery... good news is, they go in through my nose to remove it!

the former Australian Public Service Commissioner John Lloyd. Denies public servants a fair pay rise for over three years. Everlasting effect on their capacity to support themselves in retirement.

Poster boy for the right wing think tank, and fertile Liberal breeding ground, called the IPA.

Whining about his reputation being damaged by an inquiry that found that he breached public service rules by acting in a politically motivated manner.

You did that from day one you ****ing right wing campaigner.

A day at Ascot Races and after Hair and dress, we were $400 down! We walk up to the ticket box 10 secs to late and miss out on free tickets, $70 later we are in.......Yeh but it's my wife's b/day so let's have some fun. Between us we had One winner all day a 33% share in a trifecta that paid $35.00:straining::mad::eek::drunk:

Home now around $800 poorer and drowning my sorrows.

Happy Birthday Mrs BLUEALLTHRU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

a horse breaking down in the Melbourne Cup today. Cliffsofmoher appeared to break its leg coming down the straight the first time. I’m sad.

Poor horse fractured its shoulder and has been euthanised.:'(

Sad as may be Robbo. That’s racing . I grew up around horses.

This one has hit a raw nerve.

I accept that horses suffer injuries like this and it’s only a small percentage however the protocols in dealing with it need to be addressed.

I think we’ve gone past the days where staff roll out onto the track with tarps and a float to ‘treat’ the horse. These are thinking, feeling living animals who deserve to be treated with dignity. There should be an on course facility away from the track where treatment can be administered properly.

As soon as I saw Cliffsofmoher hobbling and I knew it had broken down the Melbourne Cup lost its importance for me. A tragedy like this far outweighs what I saw from thereon.

It’s clear that the horse was euthanised on the track while the winners were celebrating and the punters were jumping for joy collecting their winnings. I find that appalling.

I’ve followed horse racing for a long time. I can remember Light Fingers winning the Melbourne Cup. It appears to me that we’ve learnt nothing in over five decades. It’s not about the horses for so many which is sad.

I wish I could remember the name of the horse and trainer which sums up my feelings. It happened at one of the main racecourses in Melbourne. I’m thinking late 60s. The horse broke its leg. As with yesterday the tarps and float came out onto the track. While others are concentrating on the race result here’s the trainer running up the straight screaming at the top of his voice “Don’t you bloody shoot my horse!” A man who knew the true value of his horse.
