Heard strong report last week that "Gun" player James "BONECRUSHER" Nicholandos is looking to leave Warburton Millgrove FC and is heading back to Coldstream in EFL.

Upwey Tecoma Senior Coaching Position Season 2009

As you may or may not know Greg Hannon has had to resign as our senior coach due to work commitments, I am sure you will join with me to thank Flash for the fantastic 2 years he has given us, the good news is that he will still be around the club helping where he can.

I am delighted to announce the appointment of Wade Porter as our playing coach for the next 2 seasons.

Wade has a fantastic resume as a player, playing at a consistently high level for the last 15 years. He has played under a number of excellent coaches, and has learnt from all of them, this experience when coupled with his playing ability will be invaluable to our current players.

A quick summary of his playing resume is

A Key forward, who has played for the last 8 years at East Ringwood, wining a club best and fairest in 2006 .

He played in the 2002 Premiership team.

In his last game (this year’s elimination final) he kicked 5 goals and was named East Ringwood’s best.

He did poll the most votes in the EFL 1st Div B&F in 2006 but was ineligible to win as he had been reported

Prior to East Ringwood he played at Yarrawonga in the Ovens and Murray and was the leading goal scorer in the competition.

Prior to that he played 50 games at Box Hill ,and before that spent 2 years at Hawthorn on the supplementary list going there from the Eastern Ranges.

Wade is a quality individual and a fantastic addition to our Club. I am sure you will all join with me in welcoming him and wishing him the best of luck for the coming seasons.

Wade..... Interesting...... Doesnt Like Emerald any more? Will be travelling a few kms from down town to the hills each week, may need a travel buddy.....

I've just being reading some back pages on the forum and found a lot bagging going on about Silvan and their recent sucess, seems to me that when we were losing people were happy & now we're winning a few people don't like it, but there is also a few who are happy for our achievements and are working hard to get their club back to the top. People carry on about Alan Webb but in 1995 when the club was on the verge of folding Alan along with Frank Talia,Jerry Lamonica,Brett Kerford,Darren Steghouse,Robbie Gugialme,Peter Stockley and others had a crisis meeting and after the Seville football club offered a take over, those people decided to rebuild the club, and as the years went on we slowly started to improve on the field as well as off it.We made finals in 98 & 99 missed out in 2000 & 2001 on percentage and in 2002 won the second division flag, then the real work started, being a farming zone (we don't have a town like a lot of our rivals) we where going to have to recruit players and that takes money and time so as the above people were all life members and well established in thier business's and with massive work done to get great sponsers we have being able to reach the top of the YVMDFL, just like Monbulk,Upwey,Worri Yallock and others before us, and instead of bagging those clubs for their sucess we watched and learned and worked hard to achieve the same sucess and we have to do the same next year and the year after that.In years to come we might not make finals or even go back to second division but we'll be working hard for that not to happen. So to the people who don't like it BAD LUCK! How about instead of bagging us go do something to improve your club you never know you achieve sucess as well!

I am so sick of hearing this rubbish of no town, nowhere to draw players from blah blah blah. The last census figures in 2006 from the Bureau of Statistics regarding population read as follows

Mt Evelyn 9100
Monbulk 2715
Seville 2077
Silvan 1908
Wandin 1655
Olinda 1568

Then you have some made up policy about not recruiting from other YV clubs cause Silvan are so devoted to the strength of the league. Im not too sure many clubs would agree with that. I know for a fact that the Silvan savior was topping up an opposition players TAB account in the 2007 season while he was playing against your blokes and then miraculously he ended up in a cats jumper in 2008. The hard working finished in 2001 and cash took over even your life members will admit that.

Hi all!
New to the state and the valley and a big supporter of local footy. Been reading alot of the past posts and it seems 1st Div is dominated by Silvan in particular but in recent years only a handful of clubs have been serious contenders for a flag..looking at the results it all seems fairly predictable...2nd Div looks like it was alot more open but the two stronger teams fought it out...a big generalization l know. Been involved with a few clubs and if we had the backing that Silvan seems to have we wouldnt of knocked it back l can assure you!! At least they have not wasted it and backed up the cash with what must be alot of leg work to recruit these players as plenty would be offering them the same cash. In my experience the money doesnt last for ever and if you dont have a good culture, not just a money culture,it tells in the end...good luck to them!

Just a quick question on Ben Furugia, he seemed to take up a bit of forum space earlier in the piece, what happened to him?, what club did he end up at? and what type of player is he, big, small key position?

Thanks and looking forward to learning more and watching a heap of y.v next year.

Ben played at Warby the second half of the year. He came 3rd in our b&f having a large impact in all the games. He's a midfielder who is starting to get very grey hair :D

I would like to congratulate everyone involved in the Silvan Football Club on completing an outstanding season where the senior team finished the year Premiers & Champions as well as back to back flags! For the first time. The under 18's finished the year on top of the ladder for the first time in our history, but unfortunatly fell just 4 points short of a very evenly matched team in Warby Millgrove, & well done to Vinnie & his boys, and well done to Upwey's two's for winning their fourth flag in five years. Everyone had a great night at our presentation night on Friday where we had over 140 people attend,it was great to see The York function room completly full, witch was a great carry over from the 150+ we had at the Annual Ball when we filled the function room at the Lilydale International. For a small club we sure are well supported by our players & members, its a real credit to yourself's. Congrats to Gazza on winning his fourth Best & Fairest in a row as well as recieving his 100th & 150th goal match balls. The way this bloke carries himself on & off the field just shows what a qualitly person he is, and a fantastic addition to our club! And well done to Bully & Big Jakey on their 2nd & 3rd placings, and well done Bull on BOG in the GF. Congrats to Jonny Bonanno on his 2's B&F (a home grown talent) and to Scotty Steghouse on his under 18s B&F (another home grown talent) And well done to everyone else on thier awards. It was also fantastic to be back on our ground this year after it was reconstructed last year and now without doubt the best playing surface in the YVMDFL, and thanks to all the guys who helped build the new bar & kitchen & paint the rooms, it looks fantastic! Now we've got a great ground with fantastic facilities and the most under cover viewing area around, you definately won't get wet watching a game or get muddy playing it at Silvan!I look forward to a big 2009 season where we will be trying to win three flags in a row, get the 2's into the finals again, & the unders might be able to go one step further. GO CATS!!!!!!

Is Ben a definite starter at Mt Evelyn this year Peta? Contract is finished so should be the first one signed and with the new coach on board would be most welcome. I know its only just finished but recruiting starts NOW.

Gembrook Cockatoo Football Club announced its new senior coach for season 2009 at its Presentation Dinner last Friday night.

Travis Marsham, formerly an assistant to Aussie Jones at Narre Warren in 2006/07 as well as Gippsland Power in season 2008, will join the Brookers as its Senior Coach in 2009.

Travis is bringing two playing assistants with him, both of whom have now committed to GCFC in 2009.

They are; Austinn (Aussie) Jones - 230 game player with St.Kilda and dual premiership coach at Narre Warren and - Ricky Clark, triple premiership player with Narre Warren and generally recognised as probably the best rover/mid fielder playing in the Casey Cardinia League.

The club is looking forward to these three quality people not only bringing a wealth of knowledge, experience and ability - but also to their contributing to the development of our large group of younger players.

All three have expressed their excitement in joining the Brookers and making a real contribution to its development. Roll on 2009!

I assume Aussie will only play a few games when the Power boys play on a Sunday. Good get with Ricky if true, every club in Gippsland has been chasing him and everyone reckons they have him signed up. Absolute jet and will dominate in D1.

Aussie has resigned as coach of Gippsland Power and has committed fully to GCFC. I can assure you that all of this is fact, and not rumour.
