National moonah today. Just a round. a few lost balls, including a beautifully struck hybrid in on the double green 14th which disappeared across the green into somewhere.

Trying to be braver chipping instead of putting at times costly. But will push on. Back 9 costing me dearly on the course of late which must be recitified.

Round time 4 hours.

It’s good to know I’m a better golfer than SS.

36 pts today which makes it 3rd decent rd in a row to finish off the year.
Should have been better as I was very average off the tee, which I’m blaming on the group ahead who should stick to playing 9 hole courses.
4hr 50 minute rd and we caught them on the 13th after 2 groups had already played through them….you’d think they’d get the hint.
What is it with bad golfers using rangefinders for every shot?
Doesn’t matter if you’re 180 out and can only hit it 50….which these blokes did.

On another matter, heard a rumour that another BF member on here may have another reason not to play too much in the coming months/years, for reasons other than a bad back ……wonder what caused it?????
If rumour is correct….congrats on the good news!

Hate that - courses need rangers on busy days.

Wonder what % of golfers who use rangefinder’s actually use them properly, ie truly knowing their carry numbers and shooting required covers, etc.? As opposed to shooting the pin and then imagining “my 5 iron goes X”. When the average distance is really X minus 25 with a front back dispersion greater than left right.

Thanks thanks. My road to single digits has about 5 months left in me. But very exciting non the less.

Sorry ITCHY EYEBALLS knows my FIL. He must have spilt that I am expecting a little baby in June.

That's great news. Your first?
If so, major life change...for the better. Golf will be tricky of course.
I basically didn't join a club until my youngest was maybe 10yo. Could get away for the golf trips prior to that but regular Saturday golf was out. Joined as a restricted member which excluded Sat & Wed, which wasn't an issue due to kids sport on Sat and small matter of a full time job cut out wednesdays anyway.
It goes by in a heartbeat.

Ranger was there...unfortunately for us we only had a couple of holes left to play by the time he got around to us.

Tis our first and thanks. and still not a member anywhere so it wouldn't make much difference yet on what I am doing with my golf.

Will still get some golf trips away for sure but much more planning.

Congrats mate. My twins are 11 months old and I reckon I still play as much as i did pre-kids... I'm undoubtedly lucky though and it'll probably come to a grinding halt when they do take up sports in however many years.

and a very understanding wife.
Not married, I walked out on my partner and kids 2 weeks after birth. That's my #1 tip on how to maintain a solid 13.1 handicap after having kids.

Lucky to work from home and flexible hours so i'm able help out a lot day to day, mrs is thankfully understanding that i need half a day on Saturday's to get out and let off some steam. Less understanding when i've had to leave my car at the club and get a lift home because ive had to many on the 19th :tearsofjoy:

I've been playing a fair bit lately (11 handicap rounds in November and 7 so far in December - with 3 more booked in), have broken 80 4 of my last 5 games. nice consistent ball striking and my new LAB putter saving me 3 or 4 shots a round. Makes a huge difference once you get a bit of confidence on the greens.

6 of my last 8 rounds have been handicap flag rounds. Down to 5.6 now

My boys are treating me to a game at Moonah Legends tmoz as their Xmas gift to me.
Looking fwd to it, haven’t played there in a while.

Which course ?

LEGENDS at Moonah today……course in great condition, greens are magnificent, soft and true but I just could not read the pace. Completely different to what I’m used to, hard and fast.
33 pts with 40 putts 😩, 2 wipes.
Highlight was driving the par 4 11th, 260mts, with my Mini driver, lowlight was the subsequent 4 putt on the same hole.

The handicapper was way too generous with one of my sons….he ended up with 42pts, and I’m not going to hear the end of it for the foreseeable future.

Merry Xmas to all.
