let's put this out there.

just select 1 player from each category: backs/mids/rucks/fwds
eg.
back - Hodge
mid - Ablett
ruck - Cox
fwd - Riewoldt

you can choose players from any price range.

Do the words "must-have" literally mean you believe that you MUST select those players?

In which case are you 100% selecting Hodge, Ablett, Cox and Riewoldt at this stage?

I'm trying to say players noone else has picked yet

Back: Birchall (not a guy you'd expect but he's more consistent than any guy around his price range)
Mids: Robinson (great option around the 80k range)
Rucks: Cox (I couldn't think of any other absolute must haves)
Forwards: Ziebell (Hasn't got as much attention as Yarran or Sidey over the pre-season, but had a good NAB cup match)

He hasn't shown anything that suggests otherwise. Injury didn't help I guess.

May I ask how he was supposed to show "something"?

There has been one preseason game (which don't mean that much) and he has a slight ankle injury that he picked up in the opening 5-10 mins.

Backs:
Must have: Goddard
Bargain: Nicoski
Rookie: Hill

Mids:
Must have: Ablett
Bargain: Kerr
Rookie: Rich

Rucks:
Must have: Cox
Bargain: Mcintosh
Rookie: Currie

Forward:
Must have: Deledio
Bargain: Higgins
Rookie: Ziebell

Yarran is an obvious talent, but are people starting him because they expect him to be the Rioli of 2009? IIRC, Rioli was a lock for everyone because of his talent AND NAB cup form. I'm not starting Yarran as he has yet to prove himself, and if his first full game is in round 1, it'd be a brave person to put him on the field. I guess the main concern is whether or not he will play, rather than the points he will score, but at least we'll know prior to lockout if he's playing.

I haven't got him at the moment, but if he shows a bit in the NAB cup, I may reconsider. However, it will mean finding $44k to upgrade one of Gumbleton, Walker or Ballantyne.

For me it would be
Backs: Ellis (if named for round 1) OR Goddard
Mids: Gibbs
Rucks: Cox
Forwards: Deledio/Higgins (not mentioned much yet)

There are no must haves as such but the players that they posters list are meant to be the players that posters would chose very first up.
