I’m too obsessed with North that I can’t really be emotionally invested in another sport.

I follow boxing and mma.

I coach a girls soccer team.

I love the NBA but have never really glued to a team, loved the Bulls with MJ in the 90’s, Charlotte hornets with Johnson & Mouning, Golden State warriors with Webber, Hardaway and Sprewell

Jumped on the 76ers when Simmons went there and that went to shit.

Are they ever, still we can fill out ground allotment up without too many issues. And won the league in the 90's. Only 5 teams have won it since then... Manure, Citeh, 'Pool, Scum, Blackburn. That's it.

Look it’s not the worst resume, but all my time supporting Leeds we have been either utter shite in league 1 or fighting relegation in the prem. I enjoy the sustainability element of supporting Leeds though.

NBA: Houston Rockets - lived in Houston during the Stevie Franchise era and was lucky enough to have sit courtside as a child.

NFL: Texans - see above. managed to see them when they came into the league in 1999 and still follow them.

MLB: Astros - dirty cheats but hey, I’m stuck with them.

Don’t care for NRL, cricket or soccer

I hear ya, I love the fact that no matter how shit we're going or diabolical our season has been, we're always full. Away ends are always packed to the rafters etc I have no doubt they are the true sleeping giant of the EPL. Yeah they're dreadful and it's sad but you gotta respect the fans, somewhat like North - they just love their club.

NHL - big fan of New York Islanders after going to a game. Watch most of their games.
nBA - Denver Nuggets. Same as above. Jokic a marvel.
ePL - Always been Arsenal, but son loves Leicester so watch them more now. He met Vardy and pic sits on his desk.
nFL - Denver Broncos - was big fan of Elway.

Still follow South Melbourne Hellas in the local NPL. They’ve lost the last 3 Grand Finals unfortunately. Yeah chockers and all that….still go to some games mainly to catch up with mates and have a laugh. You get the occasional decent game but it’s mainly crap. I kind of like the local community aspect of it. It’s easy to get in, parking is no hassle, I like standing along the touch line, and there’s good cheap food at canteens (Melb Knights do a mean cevapi roll for $10!!!).
Liverpool is my obsession though. I go off my head during big games. I put my fist through the ironing board when we got the 4th goal against Barcelona in that memorable CL comeback tie. I completely lost the plot. I was trembling. Have followed the Socceroos for decades and been to all the big WC qualifiers in Australia. Was fortunate enough to go to Qatar and witnessed our great run. Was surrounded by Argentina fans in that r16 match who came up to me after the game for handshakes and photos. Never felt as proud that night, being respected by Messi’s team. We made them sweat big time. Stayed on for over 3 weeks and wineseed some incredible football including the greatest ever final, Argentina beat France on penalties after an insane 3-3 draw. It was a dream come true.
Barcelona, Marseille and PAOK are other teams I follow but don’t really stress over. Been to countless games in Europe highlights being 2 CL finals. Want to do the big derbies of world football one day. Boca v River, Celtic v Rangers, Barca v Real, Galatasaray v Fenerbahce etc.
Follow the cricket in summer but the calendar and formats are all over the place nowdays. The World Cups are pretty good cause they mean something. Ashes are always a must. Nothing better than beating England (at anything). Looking forward to the India series.
Watch a lot live footy working at the ‘G as an attendant. Best side gig going around getting paid to watch the big games, finals, Grand Finals etc. Best fans Collingwood, worst Carlton.

NBA - all teams with Aussies among their playing roster, which makes it hard when one minute you’re Philly to the core and the next minute you couldn’t give a toss about them.

NCAA as per above for all sports (M and W).

NFL - similar but with a long standing soft spot for the Bills.

EPL (and any decent league for that matter) follow teams with Aussies playing. Likewise the leagues below and the SPFL (which I miss since Bein Sport left Foxtel).

NRL - Storm to the core.

A-League - Melbourne Victory member since day one and reserved seat holder since year two. Followed South Melbourne prior.

NBL - Melbourne United. I was heavily involved in the Magic back in the day (then later the Titans/Dragons) and with their demise it took the formation of United to get me fully hooked again).

Cricket - all things Vic and Aussie related. BBL - Stars mostly due to my son’s interest but I keep a close eye on both teams.

NHL - NY Rangers. I was lucky to be there when they won in 1994 so stuck with them.

MLB - Yankees (been to many games due to my brother and his family living there).

Rugby Union - was an avid Rebels watcher so now it’s just the Wallabies.

F1 - like other sports, whoever has an Aussie driver so I’m all in on McLaren currently.

Honestly though, as others have said, I’m a bonafide sports nut who attends North through the season and Victory in between, with a sprinkling of NBL and other major things locally like the Storm from time to time. But I’m always watching on the idiot box regardless.

Rabid Sixers fan.

Jumped on the 76ers when Simmons went there and that went to shit.

The Simmons farce....then the Harden farce.... It ain't always sunny in Philadelphia but the Sixers keep finding a way. Just picked up one of my fave players in PG-13 in the off-season - making it 3 bonafide top-shelf players in the starting 5 (Embiid, Maxey, George) - as well as also gaining some vaguely handy depth types (Reggie Jackson, Eric Gordon, Caleb Martin).

Ranked fourth best team in the NBA going into the next season.

How very dare you.

NHL: Vancouver Canucks. Watched them win in overtime a couple of years ago and have been hooked ever since.

While I’m on hockey, if you haven’t seen a series called ‘Shoresy’ (free on SBS), have a look. It’s an acquired taste but the Sudbury Bulldogs remind me of the Roos. They’re a crap team that goes out and recruits ‘veteran presence’ to rebuild. Their skipper ‘hates to lose more than he loves to win’ and they turn their steaming turd of a team around. Funny stuff but probably not for the kids.

As I said in the thread about the start of our North support, I'm an American who started following footy relatively late, which means North is actually the "other team" in my life. I am a dyed in the wool diehard for all things related to Michigan State University sports (i.e. NCAA football, basketball, hockey, soccer, etc.) I got a bachelor's degree from MSU, met my wife while I was a student, and had some of the best times of my life while studying there, so the school as a whole will always be a huge part of my identity (and this is pretty normal here in the States - sports fans often follow the teams from the school they graduated from more closely than any pro teams). I honestly might have more Spartan green in my veins than actual blood.

And I approach my North fandom in a similar way to how I am with MSU sports: I know the roster up and down, know which players are rising and which are fading, who the new recruits are and how the coaching staff changes every year. I'm a bit psychotic about it TBH.

On top of that, MSU is a definite second fiddle in the state of Michigan: the University of Michigan is like the Carlton of the Big Ten (the NCAA league they are both in) and always gets more favorable advantages from the NCAA, better coverage in the media, and better high school recruits (both athletically and academically). MSU has also only had brief moments at the top of the mountain during my lifetime, so, the chip on the shoulder, underdog attitude I've learned that North has is something that's been ingrained in me for decades (though MSU has more recent high-level success than North does). Being a Spartan and going for North is honestly a scary good match.

Started watching Arsenal when the ABC used to show the EPL late at night on a Friday, which would have been very early 80's at a guess & have followed them ever since.

Had a soft spot for the Rockets in the NBA when Clyde the Glide and Charles Barkley were lighting it up, but that's a loooong time ago now.

NRL- Melbourne Storm
Bar a 5 min period early in both halves, was a nice easy watch tonight.

Cricket- Australia, Victoria, Melbourne Renegades.
Was such a privilege watching that great Australian team through my childhood and early teen years. More often than not superstars from 1-11.

Soccer- Liverpool, Real Madrid, Rangers

Basketball- Melbourne United, Boston Celtics

NPB: Hanshin Tigers

EPL: Man Utd
I lived in Osaka for many years. The Hanshin fans are nuts. :tearsofjoy:

Man U - got to see them live at Highbury. Bucket list item - tick

Cricket:
Australia
Renegades
Victoria

NCAA Football: Michigan Wolverines (2023 National Champions)
NFL: Detroit Lions
NHL: Detroit Redwings
MLB: Detroit Tigers
I don't really follow the NBA at all. I lived just outside Detroit for 9 years 1995-2004

Soccer:
A-League: Melbourne Victory
EPL: Man U

NRL: I do not give a rats about this sport. I'm not biased because I am a Victorian. I've tried hard to like it but I just can't.

Diamond League: Anyone. I love athletics.

Much like many of you did at Arden St back in the day, I went to my first game at Penrith Park in 1980 and as a kid used to go every week.

Been an Arsenal fan for just as long, my favourite player back then was Pat Jennings, it was only much later that I found out he came to us from Sp*rs.

Also support Rangers in Scotland and the Wanderers in the A-League.

Pretty much any Western Sydney team - Thunder in the BBL and also get along to Giants games at home.

I was lucky enough to visit the Cal Golden Bears a few years back through work and met their coach at the time, Sonny Dykes, so I have a soft spot for them in college football.

Also was fortunate to visit Fenway Park on the same trip so keep an eye on the Red Sox.

Galway in the hurling. Hurling is the maddest sport I have ever seen, it’s wild. Galway are known for an exciting play style and tend to be good to watch with a strong culture
When Channel 7 had the rights to GAA games for a year in 2014, I got into the hurling pretty quickly - and it can't have hurt for the first game I saw to involve a tenacious underdog side wearing blue and white... I haven't kept up with it so much in recent years, but watching Waterford (at around 2am here) shift the momentum completely and break open the 2017 semi-final against Cork with two goals in under two minutes remains one of the most exciting passages I can remember following in any sport (see from 1:06:00 in the video below):

My interest in BBL/WBBL over recent years has cooled considerably as well, but it's nice to have a 'local' side to follow in a national competition with the Hurricanes. Other than that, I haven't found many teams to follow that feel like a natural fit for me in any other sports - that, or the sport itself has never really engaged me...

I watch a lot of sports but the big two are North (via dad) and Spurs (via my uncle). Think I'm almost a bigger Spurs fan than North, probably have been since I was about 12 in all honesty. Hopefully going to see them play a proper match in late November/early December when I go to London. I picked two rather unfortunate teams, a lot of disappointment over the past 20 years. Since 2019 I've followed OKC pretty heavily in the NBA too.

I have noticed a number of North Melbourne supporters on here who also favour West Ham in the EPL.
I 'support' West Ham because of the 1980 FA Cup final. My mother went overseas for a couple of weeks and we stayed with my aunt and uncle. He got 10 year old me out of bed to watch the FA Cup final and it has been West Ham ever since! I would struggle to name a player or the manager but yet every Sunday morning I check the BBC website for the results.

I also "follow" the Detroit Lions and pretty much the same as the Premier League would barely know a player or the coach.
As an extension I follow the Detroit Tigers in the MLB and subscribe to the MLB network. I usually have the game on as I work from home a lot. Their run to the Wild Card spot has been amazing and I look forward to some play-off baseball for the first time in a decade.
