How's Adcock as a pick? Gem player, will play every game and at a good price. Used to score quite wel if I remember correctly.

What do you think of Boak in the midfield Quigs? Seems to be taking the next step up each and every season - no reason why he can't be a 100+ scorer this year.

I agree Brenjay that he does look good but maybe it might be a year early for him to take the next step.

I think from memory that he might have had another injured interrupted preseason and he has lost games to injury every year so far. The other thing to consider is where his team is likely to finish. I think there has been something like only 4 guys in the last three years who have averaged over 100 in DT from a bottom 8 side. So if you are looking at picking an elite scorer (and at Boak's price that is what you are doing) then its often a lot safer to go with guys from the top sides. I have to come clean on this though and admit I am looking at three or four expensive guys from likely bottom 8 sides that I am hoping will crack the tonne. It will be interesting to see if I follow my own advice :)

I think I might be more interested in next year in that 23/24 age bracket where guys often take the next step if they are going to do so.

Supercoach:

Defenders: Goddard, Deledio, Gibbs, Enright, Otten, Drummond, Duigan (Hibberd, B.Smith, Martin)

Midfielders: Swan, Hodge, Judd, J.Selwood, D.Swallow, Harris (Gaff, Polec, Heppel)

Rucks: Jolly, Leuenberger (Charman, Bailey)

Forwards: Riewoldt, Franklin, Higgins, Dangerfiled, Banfield, Krakouer, Prestia (Mzungu, Matera, Collinan)

Still got 73,000 in the bank.

Quigley i want your thoughts thanks :)
Lions4flag I just noticed that Hodge is going to miss this week again. He was supposed to be playing this week after being put on a modified program with achilles soreness so you might want to bear that in mind.

Quigley, your getting a work out here. As it gets closer I beleive I do also.

Goddard, Deledio, Malceski, J. Grimes, Hurley, Wood, Otten
Toy, Duigan, Puopolo.

Swan, Dal Santo, Rischitelli, Higgins, Foley, Harris
Heppell, Tzungu, Atley.

Cox, Jolly, Derickx, J. Tippett.

N. Riewoldt, Didak, Brown, Rioli, Hale, Veszpremi, Krakouer, C. Richardson, B. Smedts, I Callinan

Not sure how Hurley is travelling and wondering if I am going too far with the MPP's. Hale/Petrie, I went Hale as I believe he will receive less attention, flipside probably less talent? Didak? Not sure of the news on him.

My updated team i think will be great: leave it to quigley if he has time.:)

BACKS: goddard gibbs deledio grimes otten heppel toy (smith hunt puopolo)

MIDS: swan ablett hodge boyd bartel swallow (polec harris libertore)

RUCKS: sandilands leunberger (smith mcnamara

FORWARD: chapman rioli brennan banfield krakour gamble veszpremi ( richardson mzungu schnider

what do you guys think

thanks for the heads up Quigley :thumbsu:

I got 279,000 in the bank and I need one more player for the midfield.
So im thinking of going with C.Ward but im not too sure. do you know any other players you can recommend?

I have him in my side- think he is great value at that price. He is a potential star IMO.

what do you guys think

forward line too weak you need to balance things up more you have too many premium mids.. downgrade one premium mid to a rookie then get in a gun forward like riewoldt for one of your rooks

I had Boak in my side last year at a price I thought was value- but unfortunately, as last year, he will suffer from the "first one to be tagged" syndrome. He can score heavily when he is off the leash and Port are winning, but its not enough.

I was wondering if there was any Lions supporters out there that would put Rischitelli and/or Brennan in their side.

No, but only because neither are likely to make money or average over 100.

Gday blokes!

I'm not too experienced with Supercoach but this is what I've come up with so far:

BACKS: Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Adcock, A.Otten, Heppell, Toy (Duigan, Lower, Puopolo)

MIDS: Swan, Bartel, Dal Santo, Anthony, D.Swallow, C.Ward (D.Harris, Polec, Atley)

FWDS: N.Riewoldt, Rioli, Chapman, McGlynn, A.Krakeur, Higgins, Morton (Mzungu, Richardson, Callinan)

RUCKS: Cox, Mumford (Z.Smith, Derickx)

Thinking the ruck division is pretty sound. Cox should have a good year.
Obviously I'm hoping guys like McGlynn and Liam Anthony can score 100+ and the mid-range players (Morton, Higgins, Callan Ward, Adcock, Krakeur) crack anywhere from 85-100 with consistency.

1) Am I carrying too many rookies?
2) Anywhere I should look to make upgrades/downgrades?

Thanks!

Team looks good. I'd upgrade from Anthony or Ward in your mid if you can, Bartel is also a risk. I had him last year and he was very inconsistent, there are better players around the price.

Mcglynn is a surprise but i like it, I recently included him in my forward line, he scored reasonably well last year and i expect him to take a step further this season. Might be a SC surprise packet this year.

I was wondering if there was any Lions supporters out there that would put Rischitelli and/or Brennan in their side.
Brennan I was tempted by early but not having appeared so far in the preseason is a concern and I would want to get a look at how he is going to play before committing. Brennan if he goes okay is a perfect upgrade in round 10. He would have had both of his byes and so you would not have to worry about bringing in a reserve for the second half byes. If you paired him with a Ess, Port or Richmond forward who needed upgrade you could effectively avoid both byes.

Cotter - a few comments below.

BACKS: goddard gibbs deledio grimes otten heppel toy (smith hunt puopolo)

Should be a pretty common backline and very guns/rookies which is fine but can be risky. Hunt might be okay but personally I would be looking at Stanley or Coad ahead of Hunt from the GC. I am just not sure Hunt will score enough.

MIDS: swan ablett hodge boyd bartel swallow (polec harris libertore)

GAJ and Hodge with injury concerns would give me a few concerns but if you get some comfort prior to the start of the year then by all means go with them. You are overloading on the premium mids but all of the guys picked warrant selection and if this is a tactic you want to pursue go for it.

RUCKS: sandilands leunberger (smith mcnamara

McNamara will be a unique and I struggle to see him playing. If you wanted a rookie priced player I might go Joel Tippet who has a better chance of playing at the GC, he is DP (so you could bring in Petrie or Halw later as cover in the forwards) and might give some protection if Smith is rested.

FORWARD: chapman rioli brennan banfield krakour gamble veszpremi ( richardson mzungu schnider

With the overload in the mids you have to pay somewhere and that is in the forwards which is fair enough. Firstly though you need to be careful with your byes. Given your current team you will have 4 out in round 6 so at least one donut and you will also have 3 out in week 4 which might also be asking for trouble. Consider rebalancing with some alternatives who have byes in other weeks. Darling or Matera instead of Scheider would help. Note also my comments on Brennan above who might be worth picking up in week 10 perhaps paired with someone like Jetta or Zaharikis who don't have any byes until round 10. Having one of those guys instead of Vez, Gamble or Banfield would also allow you to relieve the round 4 and 6 pressure. Then there is Chapman who has also not played so far this preseason and has been restricted all preseason with calf and groin issues. Given his history of missing games I have serious concerns there and would probably suggest you look elsewhere.

Harry - Some comments on your team.

Goddard, Deledio, Malceski, J. Grimes, Hurley, Wood, Otten
Toy, Duigan, Puopolo.

Malceski has done his knee so is out for at least half the season. So you are going to need to replace him. Hurley I am not sold on given he has moved to the forward line. I would like him a whole lot more if he was playing in the backs. Wood has a great position for scoring and will be given every chance but he has not shown any indication this preseason that he is likely to make the most of the chance. His scoring to date has been disappointing. Keep a close eye on him in the last game.

Swan, Dal Santo, Rischitelli, Higgins, Foley, Harris
Heppell, Tzungu, Atley.

Not sure if you are talking SC or DT here and there are mixed messages. If SC I would steer away from Rischitelli and even in DT I would have second thoughts. I struggle to see him repeating his scoring let alone increasing it. Higgins if he can keep on the park looks like he will up his scoring and I assume that you will DP him into the forward line as the season progresses. Foley is another who should improve on his price. Atley has done okay from reports after a very ordianry first game and should be back in the hunt for round 1.

Cox, Jolly, Derickx, J. Tippett.

Fair enough.

N. Riewoldt, Didak, Brown, Rioli, Hale, Veszpremi, Krakouer, C. Richardson, B. Smedts, I Callinan

I think you need to reconsider your bench. Callinan was injured on the weekend and is likely to miss most of the first half of the year. Smedts is DT but I still want guys in my team with some sort of chance to play. I would rather go with Matera (or perhaps Prestia) who should play most weeks and score reasonably well. Hale has had an injury interrupted preseason and apparently looked very poor on the weekend. Given what they paid for him you expect him to play but if Clarkson is coaching for his career I would not be surprised if Hale is quickly shuffled out of the side particularly when they want to bring Bailey in. Didak, Brown and Hale all have had significant injury issues this preseason. Petrie will be missing 2 of the first three weeks and this makes him difficult to pick. The "experts" will usually recommend trying to go with guys who have had uninterrupted preseasons. With the forwards thsi year though that is easier said than done. Rioli continues to fly and it will be interesting to see how much he can return this year.

Edit - FWIW Fantasy Freako has just been doing the scores for the weekend and Hale managed something like 85. Maybe I was a bit early writing him off as a bad option.

Astbury is loved by Richmond fans but he is a young KP and has been given jobs all preseason. If he was going to be a loose third tall then you might consider him but so far it looks like they want to teach him to actually defend. He can get it if he is given licence to do so. He didn't play last week and was cleaned up by Hawthorn this week without scoring much according to the reports I have heard. You would want him to have a big one this week if you were going to jump onboard.

Lester has been mentioned by Voss as someone who could get games but he would very much be on the cusp and would be a major candidate for the sub if he was picked. Personally I think there are better players out there from a fantasy perspective this year.
