Re: Your worst Football Injury/

Nothing extremely serious.

I was kneed in the face, which caused my lip and nose to explode. I think the nose might have been broken, but I never had it checked. That was a bloodbath!

Re: Your worst Football Injury/

Multiple concussions.
Fractured collarbone after being wrapped up in a tackle, couldn't move my arms and got driven into the ground.
Fractured arm after playing in the rain, sliding across the ground after attempting to tackle this bloke and slid right into the goalpost. Now that I look back on it, while painful... it's pretty funny.

This year i had muscle spasms in my neck after being hit head-on by a teammates hip and shoulder in a game. played the next barely bein able to turn. also in another game was swung in a tackle and hit my head on someones knee. cheek was bruised and swollen for a while. also at trainin ran head-on into a teammate smashed my nose. it was out of its usual alignment, still is. only wnt to doctors for neck.

the past few years i have been hurting both of my thumbs which i fractured 2 or 3 years ago in the space of a couple of weeks. both at training. also my right wrist i keep hurting which makes it hard to bend my wrists especially wen liftin heavy weights. last year at training i landed on my right ring finger causing it to bleed and my top layer of nail was completely ripped off. i also always injure my ankles. one which occurred durin a game a few years ago which i stayed on to kick 3 goals in 2 quarters after only kickin 1 in the first 2 quarters.

not the worst injuries but i hav had quite a few over the years.

I fractured my Ankle, and broke my foot at the same time.

Had the ball, Got hit with a strong Tackle and the opponent pulled we down, my leg pretty much got mangled underneath his body weight.

Kept me out for a solid 6 weeks.

I spose it counts but it wasn't me. A team mate got hit on the side and broke his collar bone and he happened to be right near the fence. He hit the fence dislocated his shoulder and fractured his collarbone in 2 more spots. His collar bone was in 3 bits and he could lift his arm to relieve the pressure. Sure as hell hurt me watching it. I then fractured my c/bone 3 weeks later which is my worst

Been quite lucky I guess. Had a really annoying buzz type pain in the medial side of my knee for a season, everyone I went to see didn't really know what it was but assumed it would get better as I grew, which it did. Was pretty frustrating at the time though.

Had a corkie on my thigh this year that kept me out for 4 weeks. Couldn't believe the amount of time that was required to get it to recover fully.

Broke wrist which is fairly minor, tore my hamstring really bad and was out for couple months. Worst one by far thong is completly ruptured cruical ligament in knee and tore medial so basically needed a knee reco.

That was a few years back and the opposition goal umpire was abusing me because he thought I was weak for not be able to get up. You do a knee then mate. One day ill find that guy and break his knee.

Broke my fingers a few years back after a teammate kicked a helicopter to me, sun was in my eyes.. and boom, broke my pinky finger, required surgery, and had two pins put in.

broke both my hand. spiral fracture on the 3rd metacarpal and a traverse fracture on the 4th metacarpal. surgery, 3 screws and a 2 1/2 inch plate later its all good.

This is a true story.

Under 16s round 1 tore my ACL. Came back for Under 17s bout round 4 tore my left calf muscle, came back 2nd last round that year got kneed in the back by some w***er trying to be a hero and take a speccy and had a slipped disc. Didn't get back after that.

Well, not sure if any of you have come across this type of injury, but I is a sporting injury, but it is a rugby injury..
It is a calcaneal fracture, I got this by playing State rugby when I was 18 and had to get operateed on, still hasnt fixed it, but has helped.

The doc hadn't come across my injury before, and was intrigued.
But yeah saw this section and thought yeah, someone might know what I am on about lol!

Nothing major. Worst would be a sprained ankle. Hurt it in the first minute of the first preseason game last year, but kept on playing. When I arrived home, I managed to walk a across the road before the ankle gave way and I was unable to put any pressure on it.

That same Friday (or possibly the next, not sure), I played soccer with mates - one slid into my ankle and it swelled back up again. Next morning, I was walking with a fair limp. Didn't want to miss the game though, so went outside and tried to run through the pain. Didn't tell the coach about the ankle and I played that day - was a horribly wet day and I was playing in defence unable to turn or sprint anywhere near full pace. Conceded and spent the second half on the bench. Was incredibly stupid of me to play, as even now a year later the ankle is noticeably larger than the other.

Nothing compared to the majority of injuries in this thread though - hope I never have to go through anything of the sort, but as I make my way up to seniors/reserves, think I might be in a bit of strife.

Dislocated ankle + broken leg and snapped the ligaments off the foot, needed a pin to hold the ankle to the leg because of the break(12 weeks), i was laying on my side and my toes were pointing to the ground, the worst bit of it all was they put the dislocation back in on the ground,
that fu**ing hurt, still have trouble with it at times.

My first game of under 18's i was running along the boundary, had the ball in front of me, bent down to pick it up and got bumped, sort of slipped too hit my right temple on the horizontal bar of the fence, neck snapped back and slammed into the concrete path that runs along the outside of the ground. At first (when i regained conciouness) i thought i had broken my neck because i couldn't feel anything. i fractured my neck, tore both my neck mucsles off the bone and had swelling on the brain. Was in hospital for 3 nights until the swelling went down and had 2 years out of the game. Headaches are still off and on. I still claim that it this injury is the reaosn why i failed year 12 maths!!!

Tore ACL in my left knee back in 2001 which resulted in me retiring from football at the tender age of 19. Then last year was playing indoor footy with mates and tore same ligament in same knee requiring a second reconstruction, which im yet to have and most likely wont, im thinking i'll just get an arthroscope to clean up the damage and just learn to handle having a slighly unstable knee. Ive also torn medial ligament in my right knee and have slight tears in right knee cartalige. So in about 10 15 years i have a case of knee arthritis to look forward to, i hate knees!!!
