Big fan of Boak, but he hasn't come on as big as I thought he would. Still a great player, but I thought by now he'd be pushing the elite bracket. Has all the tools. Suppose it doesn't help playing for a bottom 4 team, but it seems as if he's stalled.

Boak still at the moment, but wouldn't suprise me to see Zaha overtake him next season if he's played as a permanent midfielder.

Boak is an excellent player and would/will be better in a better team or if port improve a bit. I think if Zaharakis was at port and Boak at Essendon this wouldnt even be discussed

Zaharakis is underated but probably boak atm but dont be suprised if zaka has a permanant move to the midfield next year and turns into one of those players who consistently get 25+ disposals
But i also think Boak is a bit overated being the best player in a bottom 4 team, he only averages one more disposal than zaka, and zaka spents time in the forward line aswell

Looking at the stats the only significant difference was Zaharakis kicks a lot more goals. All the other stats were slight differences either way that don't mean a whole lot. Zaharakis is also several years younger. If I had to pick a player to play in a grand final right now, I'd take Boak, but longer term I would take Zaharakis for sure.

This :thumbsu:

Boak is a far more complete player atm.

Would like to see Zaharakis played in the middle though. Probably can't resolve the poll until he does.

While the stats seem similar, you'd have to say that its a lot harder to be a decent midfielder at a rubbish club like Port than at Essendon, where you actually have a chance of finding the ball.

In saying that though Zaharakis is significantly younger and may well be better in a couple of seasons compared to Boak as he is now.

Boak and Zaharakis are complete opposites, Boak is a pure tough inside mid while Zaharakis is a fast outside goal kicking flank/midfielder.

Zaharakis is 1&1/2 yrs younger and is improving every game he has played, Boak has not become the player most would have expected yet, but not many would playing for Port at the moment.

Zaharakis by the length of the Flemington straight. Lets just look at the facts.
He plays for a big Victorian club.
He gets to play on ANZAC Day
He gets to play in "Blockbusters"
He gets to be seen on Free to Air TV in Victoria in prime time.
He's coached by James Hird.
He plays in the same team as Tim Watson's son.

Boak, who?, pffft, simply no competition

Boak is so far ahead it's not even funny, he will be a far greater player. Jumped on his bandwagon at the end of last year and thoroughly enjoyed watching him this year...he actually makes watching the Power bearable...that pretty much says it all.

Yeah, but Boak gets to play in front of the black plastic on the seats at AAMI. Pretty daunting I would've thought!
