It's been well reported that Butters has just this week become the most fined player in AFL history, defined by dollar amount. He has managed to do this across just 111 games of football, with his first incident occurring in just his third game in the AFL.

What is apparent is that Butters is a recidivist, with the fines obviously not acting as any deterrent.

Butters' record includes 16 guilty findings. More concerning is that in 5 instances he has been guilty of high contact, and in the only time he has got off a charge was when Port Adelaide argued that a jab to his opponent's jaw was of insufficient force. Furthermore, he has been found guilty of intentional acts four times in his last 20 games.

Is it time to start suspending him? IMHO, yes.

His last two fines have been the softest incidents you'll ever see.

The ball is within 5m and in play, and there's no head high contact, why exactly has he been fined against Richmond?

Then there's the umpire contact that was incidental contact of the feet.

The Jarrod Berry incident was the softest tap that wouldn't hurt a 6yo.

Absolute joke they got cited.

The incidents prior are all legit, and so yes he has some issues to work through but the last ones are pathetic by Christian

Christian is pathetic, we can all agree on that, so maybe Butters has not been full deserving of all the fines that have come his way. Nevertheless it is now a record that follows Butters around, and maybe he'd be better off missing a game because of it rather than the message not getting through.

Protected species who won’t stop until he actually hurts someone and cops a hefty suspension from these cheapshots. Can tell by his half-time interview in the Bulldogs game that he takes no responsibility for his actions. He is a tough campaigner for his size but these sort of acts need to stop.

Umpire contact one is pretty standard. You don’t stand in that space behind the umpire where they are vulnerable while running backwards. The other incident is borderline but again its just another unnecessary cheapshot by Butters and I don’t think he deserves any sympathy being such a recidivist.

He's going to argue that he stepped out of the way and was held then pushed behind the ump by the Richmond player.

The other one is laughable as well. It shits me that players now are allowed to run around with no situational awareness or care for their own space. If the Richmond player in question had just braced for contact and been careful it would be the sort of incident we still see multiple times a game.

Butters is a bit of a sniping dog but this is just targeting him because someone fell over. Its absolutely ludicrous. Players shouldn't be targeted by the MRO like that. There are enough credibility issues there as it is.

His comments on the Bulldogs game came because of the off the ball hits he'd copped from Liberatore. The kind of hit that Butters himself has been fined for multiple times.

Yet Libba wasn't cited.
