Awesome three weeks. We are a very good footy team. Very good. Down a couple of key players tonight and got it done.
Got a very tough 3 games ahead.
Will be the ultimate test.

Professional win with contributions from most of the side at different stages. We don’t rely on 2-3 stars to carry us which makes us hard to beat over 4 quarters.

Best tonight (in no particular order) were Battle, Chol, Dimma, Day, Newk, Amon, Frenchie, CJ and second half Massimo.

Gunston up forward gives us another dimension and Wizard had a solid game.

Sicily, Impey and Barrass are so assured down back.

Weddle had a Timmy O special. Is working hard and it’s only a matter of time before it clicks. Ginni had some key touches but needs to lift.

Losing CMac hurts. Hopefully it’s not too serious. Maybe Huss or BMac get an opportunity. Testing our depth early is probably not the worst thing.

Will need to play much better to slay the Giants.

Sat through that entire game very relaxed. We aren’t firing on all cylinders yet but I never really felt that game would slip. Carlton just aren’t skilful enough.

Newcombe, Battle, Chol, Amon all excellent. One of Ward’s best games. Good to see CJ back and making a handy contribution

3-0 and cruising a bit. Next week will be a massive game against a top shelf opponent

Another gutsy workman like win. Impressive to do it without some of our gutsiest in Worpel, Scrimshaw and Croc.

Reckon we’ve had games on our terms for barely 2 and a half collective quarters in our opening 3 games. Just worn the pressure, stuck to fundamentals and got the job done.

Great to see we can win like that. Looking forward to when things open up and the skills of this team can really be showcased.

Mackenzie really reminds me of our coach (more leg speed though).

A bit to work on, I.e. defending D50 stoppages (though we're almost unbeatable defending in the air inside D50), but when we get a run on, it's art; our transition play and overlap run is incredible.

Three weeks in and we’ve had three games where the opposition has thrown everything at us and we just keep responding.
A massive effort from the team this evening against a Carlton side who were desperate to win.
  • Our pressure rating in the second half was unbelievable - we pressured them into mistakes and capitalised.
  • Josh Battle in defence was enormous - his one on one effort against Currie were huge and you can see the boys respond.
  • Josh Ward in the middle more this week and he showed that that is his spot - such a great game against a top class midfield.
  • Jai Newcombe was again sensational in the middle - he refuses to beaten.
  • Mabior Chol was sensational as our big focal point all evening - worked hard in defence, gave options and took his chances.
  • Cam Mackenzie has an eternity with the ball in hand and makes good choices more often than not.
  • Gunners coming on as the sub - kicks two, has a goal assist and three score involvements - did his role.
  • Karl Amon’s tackle to save a certain goal showed his courage and that he is not just an attacking player.
  • Nick Watson terrorised the defenders and his goal to seal the match was tremendous.
  • Meeky battled away until the very ending, refusing to give up and willing himself to every contest.
  • CJ came back in and I loved his second efforts and willingness to get back and help out.
  • Massimo worked himself into the game and his kicking in the last quarter especially was sublime - just so lethal.
  • Loved the work of Jarman in his 200th game - he makes good decisions with the ball and just has so much time and composure.
  • Finn Maginness strength to stand in the tackle means that he can get a quick handball away which can lead to a goal - see Chol’s snap.
  • Nash did another whole hearted effort to nullify Cripps all game and didn’t shirk the challenge.
So many positives and yet we are going at about 65-70% of our capacity at the moment.
3-0 for the first time since 2014 - well done boys 🤎💛
