We do like the Blight theory of kicking more than the opposition.

Was strange Scott decided to allow us to play an open game given our respective forward lines.

Not so strange when you consider how ‘good’ Brad Scott is at coaching.

AFL and AFL friendly media will never admit this but they must have some concerns about filling a 19th team.

From what I've seen this season some teams bottom 5 or 6 players are barely VFL standard.

There has never been a better time to be a 16yo because you don't have to be that good to be drafted.

AFL needs to invest more heavily in the northern academies

Yep the talent pool in Australia is not big enough for have more teams

Looking forward to the media dragging Essendon over the coals for their performance against Adelaide.

Who am I kidding. They won’t get anywhere near the flack that we got last week.

Given the media narrative so far has been:

Opening Round - kick Collingwood at every opportunity
Round 1 - kick Carlton at every opportunity

I wouldn’t bet against Essendon copping it this week. Still time for other clubs to put their hands up as the whipping boys though.

Its all pointless dick measuring really. Crows chose to go absolutely ham and have fun with the scoreboard, and Essendon got some junk time goals to boost their score. It happens.

I'm sure the Crows can lockdown defend when they need to.
Not uncommon to see highs scores kicked in the opening rounds when conditions are better & players are still fresh. Not to mention less footage for coaching groups to go to work on to counter.

Exactly. Well unless you're Carlton where we're already scoring and playing like we're cooked and waiting for the season to end.. 😆 but that aside

Crows are looking like a force this year. Tipped them to be the big risers on my ladder predictor, they have weapons everywhere.

Merrett and Cripps two tragic tales of stars who have busted their ass for a decade and received nothing but disappointment from their clubs.
Merrett was never a good player though. Nice guy but never a Brownlow threat.

Essendon only the third home team this century to kick 100 points and lose by 10 goals.

The others - Carlton lost to Adelaide by 176 to 104 in 2009, North lost to Adelaide by 162 to 100 in 2001 and West Coast lost to Melbourne by 170 to 100 in 2000.

Where did you get these stats from? Just from memory, in Round 1, 2016, Brisbane v West Coast was 102-166.

Would that make Essendon the 4th?

Becuase they beat up two crap sides?

Not necessarily, just said he was a lot smarter than you.
Geez you like to throw insults when called out on your stupid posts.

Clearly you are not well placed to make calls on the intellect of people lol.

Some AFL clubs don’t recruit properly and players don’t develop. I reckon Dodoro and your football dept have ruined plenty of talent who’d have thrived at Hawthorn or Collingwood.

Scoring 135 and 160 is still impressive from an offensive output. They look good imo. Defense a bit shaky but that will be a more interesting watch when they aren't blowing teams off the park.
Personally I'm waiting to see how they stack up againt the good sides who bring the heat the amount of uncontested marks they took all day was ridiculous we looked like witches hats out there

Yes, will get a better idea where we are at against better teams applying more pressure... but we can only beat what we face on the day.

ironic a Hawks supporter doesn't think a 161 to 100 point win is impressive when they "only" won 111 to 85 the week before against the same opposition on the same ground (their home ground).
