I don't remember the last time I saw Gawn so nervous going up against a rival ruck.

Big reason for the win IMO

Any side that can even come close to going even against Gawn is doing themselves a big favour. Rucks and especially the actual hit outs are often not that important, imo, but Gawn is a special case. Gun of the position.
The fact that Xerri is one of perhaps two guys in the comp able to go with him, and even beat him sometimes, is great for North.

And when you take in 2 Demon goals from Chomss dropped marks in the first half plus 3 free kicks in front of goal, the margin flattered them.

Hasn't actually been that long. We were in the 8 for a few rounds after beating West Coast and Freo to start 2023. I guess 2 years is a while but we've been shithouse for much longer than that.

People seem to forget, but North had a pretty good second half of 2024.

They won 3 games, but had a whole bunch of competitive losses and 'almost wins'. Only three heavy defeats, two of those in the final two rounds against finals contenders.

They didn't really get the reward on the W/L table, but there were already some signs there...
