On another matter. What is going on with teams activating bogus medical substitutes to gain an advantage?
Ratugolea was subbed out last week against us with what looked at the time like a serious leg injury
Low & behold he is in the lineup for their clash with the Lions tonight.
Pittonet for Carlton subbed out against a fast finishing hawks last week & he too is named as first ruck this week.
Some teams are taking the piss with the rules use. I think it needs to be scrapped or altered to ensure no teams are using it to inject fresh legs when required most. We all know that is exactly what's going on. Some teams are obeying the law as it was intended (us included) & some are flouting it at will.

I think if they have to bring the head of the substituted player, far fewer players will be feigning injury to gain a competitive advantage for the team. Great thinking!
Yup and Dahlhaus provides a lot of run which they were lacking, I said in another thread surprised no one has mentioned it gave Geelong a lift in the 4th he had some important momentum moments.
imo the rule should also allow the other team to activate it once the opposing team does, that way they aren’t at a disadvantage by the other team having a fresh runner.

Hate to say it but that’s a move Hawkins has made famous his hm whole career. The obvious push in the back. Whether it’s pushing a defender under the ball or a ruckman in the back during a ruck contest, he’s made that move his own and he continues to get away with it. Bewildering.

Yes, yet another really poorly adjudicated game. In a close finish, umpiring errors had a huge impact.
But of course, we will hear you cannot be criticical umps, umpiring doesnt impact results, it all evens out and other absolute rubbish comments.
Until the competition changes its view on using technology for other than scoring decisions we will continue to have to put up with officiating which is the antithesis of expectations in a professional sport.
