If I am looking at the possible matchups, Marchbank's inclusion might makes sense, as long as Durdin is selected, if they play a 2nd ruck and dependant on other inclusions

Durdin - 2MP
Young - Draper/Phillips
Marchbank - Jones
Plow - Stringer
Doc - Langford/Perkins
Yep, if Durdin plays, he gets 2MP. Less experienced in our structures so takes the most dangerous forward in a more one on one fashion. Minimises the need to fast track structural familiarisation. If Young was to go to Wright, think more chance Big D gets ”lost”

Yeah Essendon played Phillips, Draper, Wright and Jones in their last game, so they have a tall forward line. Stringer back and maybe Langford too.

Agree with your match ups except id swap Durdin and Young.

Wright their biggest threat and marks on the lead almost 100% of the time. From what I've seen Young is very good at defending that, but not wrestling.

The big ruck will be more stationary and battle of strength, which I think suits Durdin more.

Putting your less experienced defender on their most dangerous key forward doesn't seem like a great idea imo.

Only advantage is if Young then plays on their ruck and peels off to intercept. But I think a lot of their entries go to Wright and he's so accurate he's a far bigger threat than the resting ruck.

Essendon can only kick a winning score if Wright kicks a bag. Shut him down and we should win, so I reckon out our best defender on him.

It's a toss up for me, as Durdin is slightly more aggressive and slightly quicker off 20 metres

Either way, we have better options all of a sudden

And, Voss might have another tactical surprise move this week

You'd think we'd keep Plow in for experience and organising down back?

Hmm, I would have thought Marchbank has Plowman's spot. 3rd tall type.

Durdin, Young, Marchbank, Newman, Docherty, Saad, Stocker are our 7 defenders by the looks of it. If it does pan out that way, I'd at least make Plowman the sub because Durdin and Marchbank are our greatest unknowns in terms of fit and injury.

Plowman doesn't deserve to be dropped however. I have always just seen Plow and Marchy as that third tall. I'd consider Newman as sub but I just can't seem him being dropped.

Let's be honest, Stocker was poor last week.

Made quite a few errors by foot. I haven't seen him be a threat in the air either recently, don't think he's a particularly good overhead mark.

We could go Young, Durdin and Marchbank as the talls. Plow is versatile enough to replace Stockers role...he can stop a medium or small forward and provide just as much rebound.
Who is better equipped to handle Stringer, Plow, Newman or Stocker? If Durdin Plays, who stays in will rest on this decision.

You do realize that Cottrell was covering a loose in the pocket, think your blaming a player for a tactical issue,
that would have been watched and learnt to be counter acted.

Maybe he should have paid attention and covered his own man, that was clearly killing us...
How didn't he recognise Sidebottom had times where he was 30m clear in Collingwood's forward 50...

If he can't see what was happening during the game and adjust to it by actually playing on his man...
Then maybe he shouldn't be playing...

He didn't get beaten because Sidebottom was better (can more than handle that), he got beaten because he
gave Sidebottom no respect and let him do as he pleased...

I think Plowman is better then Stocker at playing the small / medium lockdown role at the moment. Better defensively and offensively.

I rewatched the game. Stocker made 2 first half kicking errors.
That’s all. The rest of his game was good.

I don’t think it’s a sustainable strategy to have only Doc and Saad as mid/smalls for the next block of games. Strongly doubt Stocker loses his spot.

FB: Plow - Young - Newman
HB: Docherty - Surdin - Saad
C: Walsh - Hewett - LOB
HF: Fisher - Curnow - Silvagni
FF: Owies - McKay - Curdin

R: TDK - Cripps - Cerra

Kennedy - Dow - Martin - Marchbank
Looks pretty on the mark except I expect one of Newnes or Cottrell to play instead of Dow. Voss has made it super clear with his tactics this year that he doesn't want to play Cerra/Walsh on a wing. I doubt that happens to accommodate Dow. I would keep Cottrell.

Is Stocker a little quicker though?

I do admit that Stocker as a sub would make more sense in that he could cover more injuries.
