After that big trade period, and then getting Crouch, they seem to be filled with some sort of false hope. The reality is, that list looks ordinary on paper. They are at least a few quality runners short of contending. Looks like they tried to address that in the last draft, but I don't think they cut deep enough. It seems they are a bit delusional.

There are teams we know won’t/can’t win three finals due to poor contest work and/or lack of consistency but are good in home and away - cats, lions, swans main ones.

Can’t see that Freo side winning three either, possibly in the future as they have the right tools but not right now.

Dees (obviously) and Blues I can see doing it. Tigers potentially as well if they can stay fit. I still don’t think we’ll get there tbh, but if we did sneak in we’re the only other team I could see getting on a run given our contested ball and clearance profile.

He never really got past being held up alongside Cripps and Bont as the best young guns of the 2013 draft. Merrett isn't as good as either of them but he has ended up in that "pretty good" tier instead of the elite tier.
